Nadhr

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Arabic, Nadhr or Nadhir translates as "one who warns". The Quran uses the word to refer to the Prophet Muhammad and other prophets, since their role was to warn society that they had turned away from God and would be punished if they did not repent. Some examples from the Quran include:

2:119 Verily, We have sent thee [O Prophet] with the truth, as a bearer of glad tidings and a warner: and thou shalt not be held accountable for those who are destined for the blazing fire.
