[edit] History

Nada Que Perder was created circa 2000, as a side project of Carlos Velasquez and Juan Camilo Pryor, who at that time where members of Juventud Oprimida too. These two characters, searching for a more contestatary sound counted on Michael Losada's support, today's vocalist, to play drums. They tried to play with a few members of the bogotan hardcore scene such as Carlos Ramirez (a.k.a. Chiqui) and Hamid.

After a slow start, in 2001 Juventud Oprimida parted ways which allowed Nada que Perder to become a more serious project.

With the exit of Pryor from the band, members of Juventud Oprimida and Pocaley joined to play having their first shows in 2002. After a series of successful shows in the local hardcore punk scene, internal problems due to ideological differences, low commitment and the reigning hypocrisy of most of the scene members, made Nada que Perder disappear.

In 2004, after a change in the scene's attitude and the rootening of anticapitalist and against-the-system movements in the local scene, Nada que Perder saw a chance to communicate with the scene's members through their typical ideas and lyrics about brutal opposition to social injustice and State abuses. Velasquez an Losada ask Pryor, former Juventud Oprimida's vocalist and Nada que perder's bassist to join them along with Juan Buriticá, former guitarist of Juventud Oprimida.

After a few months of having Daniela playing drums with them, she parted ways to live in Medellín, which led the band to ask Ricardo, who came from a metal background, to join them.

[edit] Criticism

Band members were harshly criticized between 1999 and 2001 due to their criticism to the local scene's hipocrecy and lack of identity. By that time, the local scene was submerged in a 'gangster' attitude copied form the New York bands Madball and Crown of Thornz.

Through the fanzine 'Acción & Reacción 571' band members criticized the attitude and trends of the larger part of the loca hardcore scene, which was enough to earn them a lot of enemies.

Nowadays, thanks in large part to small factions of the local scene, principles such as struggling against the system and social injustice have made it easier for the band members to communicate with the scene locals, but, until when?
