[edit] History

Nabiki is the middle of the three Tendo sisters, and a 2nd year student at Furinkan High School. Even at her young age, she is gifted at looking out for number one, and has no compunction against emotionally wrecking people for money; she has sold clandestinely-taken photos of Ranma and Akane, made book on Ranma's fights, and is not above blackmail.

While she comes from a martial arts school, Nabiki is not a combatant. Although she always keeps her wits about her, she is unable to fight. The only fighting skill she has shown is a variation of her father's Yokai head technique. She usually does not need to fight, as she ensures the violence around her finds other targets to occupy its attention.

[edit] Personality

Nabiki is intelligent, resourceful, and cool under pressure. She is also completely amoral. She is easily the most intelligent character in the series, and she has taken full advantage of the situation her family finds themselves in with the embattled engagement between Ranma Saotome and her sister Akane.

Her intelligence and talent for manipulation has helped her to live in relative harmony with most of the Ranma cast, who normally don't hesitate to use violence to get their way. Whenever she deals with Ranma, for example, she bluffs or pushes him whenever he gets angry with her.

If there's something Nabiki likes, that is money. During most of the series, Nabiki is shown taking advantage of Ranma in order to make a few extra yen, such as selling photos of female Ranma (Set of five for 3000 yen!). Still, between her love of money and her love of family, it's hard to tell which she loves more. There are some instances where it seems that she is willing to sell the dojo for money.

Although Nabiki has her own group of friends, she is mildly disliked and sometimes even feared by several members of the regular cast. They rarely hesitate to call upon her services when she offers it to them, however. She deliberately appeals to the desires of her customers, such as selling photos of Akane and the "pigtailed girl" to Tatewaki Kuno or auctioning a date with Ranma (or Ranma himself) to any of his fiancées - Shampoo, Ukyo Kuonji, and even her own sister, Akane.

She hates it if someone tricks her, and usually attempts to get back at the person. Besides Kasumi, Nabiki seems to be the only one in the house that Happosai does not try his perverted acts on. In Kasumi's case, this is probably because Kasumi is the only one who takes care of the housework, while in Nabiki's case it may well be because she is too formidable for even Happosai. In one episode of the anime, Happosai teams up with Copycat Ken, a martial artist who fights by mimicking the form and skills of others. Taking the boy on as his disciple, the pair are shown to actually try to grope Kasumi, whilst their attempt to do the same to Nabiki results in their being physically repulsed.
