Nøtterøy is a municipality in the county of Vestfold, Norway. Area: 59 km².

The whole district is made up of a small island group south of Tønsberg, including the islands Nøtterøy, Føynland, Veierland, and about 175 smaller islands. Nøtterøy includes the villages Borgheim, Teie and Torød

The Norse form of the name was Njótarøy 'the island of Njót' - originally the island must have been called just Njót. The name is probably derived from the verb njóta 'enjoy, benefit from' (fishing and/or agriculture).
