Myths of the Near Future
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Myths of the Near Future, a short-story collection by J. G. Ballard, contains the following stories:
- Myths of the Near Future
- Having a Wonderful Time
- A Host of Furious Fancies
- Zodiac 2000
- News from the Sun
- Theatre of War
- The Dead Time
- The Smile
- Motel Architecture
- The Intensive Care Unit
"The Dead Time" was a semi-autobiographical tale of Ballard's release from a Japanese prison camp at the close of World War II, and was later expanded into a full-blown novel, Empire of the Sun.
The name and collection has recently influenced hotly-tipped British band, Klaxons to name their debut album after it.
