[edit] Biography

In 1992 a band called Sabazios, rose from the fertile ashes of Norway's hateful black metal. They were one of a kind in this scene with their cold and aggressive sound, as they chose to use the industrial drumming from a computer. Their first demos, "Wintermass" and "Medusas tears" were released in 1993. Euronymous of Mayhem signed Mysticum on his "Deathlike Silence Productions" (DSP) label immediately after hearing them. He considered their sound new and original and unlike anything he had heard before. After their first demos, the band decided to change their name to something more recognizable than Sabazios. So the band was from here on known as Mysticum.

The tragic day in history of black metal came when Euronymous was brutally murdered and the scene in Norway was more or less torn apart. With the death of Euronymous, Mysticum decided to break the deal with DSP/VOW because of the bad cooperation with VOW. Anyway, DSP went into the grave along with Euronymous.

In 1996 the drummer Hellhammer of Mayhem joined the band for about half a year or so, but it apparently did not work out. Mysticum, it was felt, was nothing without the industrial drumming from a machine. With a human drummer the music got more alive, more human, it was destroying art! Mysticum decided to honor "Fullmoon Productions" with their debut release, "In The Streams of Inferno" . They also contributed with the songs "Kingdom Comes" and "In Your Grave" on the Nordic Metal: A tribute to Euronymous compilation album. Some songs for their second album "Planet Satan" were recorded but for some reason never released and in the year 2000 the band broke up. Recently one of those songs, "Black Magic Mushrooms" was released as one of the two songs on the Audiopain / Mysticum split 7" vinyl, released on Worship Him Rec.
