[edit] Storyline
Long ago in lands thought to have existed in Legend, a man known as Emperor Kang ruled the people with an iron fist. Kang and his wife, Sheva, with their cold heartedness brought about chaos. Until two elite mystics by the name of Taikonobu, and Naja sealed them away in Mt. Hoshin, restoring peace back to the land. But they forgot one fact, Kang had a son - a son by the name of Cyrus. Cyrus built up an army to battle against the mystics in an attempt to free his father.
The game starts out where it shows Emperor Kang, Sheva, and their two generals, Grifon, and Kai, all in the monument planning on how to escape. Grifon brings up the existence of something known as the 'Dragon Star', which could free them. So Kang calls upon the powers of the Dragon Star, and he along with all of his minions are set free, giving Kang the chance to rise again to dominate the land.
Taikonobu and Raja are currently at an area known as Mt. Senkai. They were met by a small DragonStar leading them to the next area to follow. Tai noticed that his bamboo sword was glowing so he knew that something had happened. That is where the plot greatly unfolds....

[edit] Character Info
Shiga - Living east of the capital, he is quite the headstrong youngster. He is the kind to act first and think later, and he always speaks his mind. He is easy to get along with but hates to get pushed around by others. But he has a very soft spot for his best friend, Lani. His abilities rank as one of the top mystics, but doesn't really have the knowledge or wisdom yet. During a few years back he became friends with Taikonobu. His story begins by being invited with Raja, to head for the City of Ancients.
Lani - Being one of the last surving members of a long line of mystics. Thanks to her elders she possesses very powerful knowledge. Just as the secrets were passed on generation by generation. She loves peace and has a very strong spirit. Thus balancing very well with her opposite, Shiga. She has fought alongside Shiga many years back, and traveled with him to distant lands. Lani along with Raja both started their story by being invited by Raja to go to the City of Ancients.
Tai - Son of a powerful mystic, even though he doesn't live on Mt. Senkai. His personality is that he is very pure-hearted, and extremely strong-willed. Many years ago he turned out successful in sealing away the tyrant, Emperor Kang, along with all of his generals within a tower at Mt. Hoshin. Due to that fact, his fame rose throughout the land. After fighting alongside a good friend of his known as Shiga, Tai decided not to return to Mt. Senkai, but to continue his precious training elsewhere.
Naja - She is the daughter of a mystic. When as a child an "accident" took away her life, but thanks to a special rune, she was given a second chance of life. Due to that fact, she grew an edge to her personality, and feels as if she has to prove herself to the world daily. Even if being a little gruff in her personality, her heart and loyalties are always in the desired place. One of her weaknesses is Ariel, since she gets pretty annoyed by him. Upon Master Gen's orders, Tai and Naja are to descend from Mt. Senkai to investigate some anomalies at Mt. Hoshin. Note that in her first life, Naja was a boy, which justifies her far-beyond-tomboyish personality.
Captain Dax - Son of a mystic. He is quite an adept with spells, since he has been training with them since he was a child. He was made the captain of the Mt. Senkei Guard, due to his superior commander skills. With his skills, he helped Tai and the others in the original battle against the Emperor and his wife. In the beginning of the story Master Gen sent him down from Mt. Senkai to pursue the Roc.
Ariel - Youngest amongst all of the mystics. Even though he is merely a little child, during battle he takes a new form, that of a bird-human form. This transformation strikes fear into his adversaries. Ariel is very pure of heart, and for that reason he is liked by all. It is said that he has a passion greater than that of Naja on the battlefield. Ariel too has fought alongside the other mystics ever since the first battle against the Emperor.
Kirin - Kirin is the center of command for the capital, along with that of the City of Ancients. Kirin is the father of Raja. Long ago even Kirin used to be a loyal servant under Kang. But he revolted, turning to the other side when Kang tried to have him killed for unspecified means. He assisted in the process of sealing Kang away in the tower. After that task was done, he was made commander of the defense forces.
Raja - Raja is the second in command of the defense force of the capital. The first in command is Kirin, Raja's father. Even though his looks give you the thought of him being calm and easy going, he is truly is quick to losing his temper. Being raised on Mt. Senkai, he left in order to help his friends against Emperor Kang, also fighting along Shiga in many other battles. At one time Raja was a very rebellious son, but now he puts all of his heart into protecting the capital, along with the City of Ancients with his father.
Mirah - She is the main commander of the protection of the Kaihei Pass. She is the heir to quite a long line of succession. After her father was unknowingly killed by Emperor Kang, She joined Tai's forces in a quest to preserve justice. It is also known that she is in love with Tai. She also fought in many battles with Shiga. She has good self control skills through her wisdom and knowledge, but at times her spoiled side comes out.
Master Gen - The Elder Mystic atop Mt. Senkai. He sent Tai and Captain Dax down from Mt. Senkai when sensing the horrible approclamations awaiting. He sent them both to restore peace. Even with unrivaled power, he is not the kind to foolishly use it. His true desire is just for everyone in the world to live in peace.
Dragonstar Spirit - A mysterious dragon-like fairy that lives on a star that only passes by once every few hundred years. It is known that there may quite be a strong relationship towards the Dragon Orb and with the spirit of the Dragon Star. But the relation isn't truly known. It is said that it arrived to merely instruct Tai on a certain mission, which was near Mt. Hoshin. He appeared in Crimson Sea as Diez's doll and in Crimson Sea 2 in a flashback.
Emperor Kang - The Emperor of all the land. He is extremely power hungry, and has many loyal followers. His plot on claiming the throne for himself was indeed successful. He became blinded by ambition and power, and created campaigns to destroy the will of his subjects. But he ended up being sealed away, along with all of his men at Mt. Hoshin. He is very cold-hearted and lusts for his vengeance.
- Attacks: For his attacks he will charge up his magic. Then he will fly forward at you, and do his primary combo. Once his magic is charged, he can also shoot spherical blasts at you, usually 5 at a time. He also shoots magic waves at you usually 2 sets of 2 at a time. He can also create a seal, which follows you until the seal explodes. Sheva and him both have the most techniques.
Sheva - Not the strongest of mystics, but she indeed has very evil inspirations. She loves to see others before her suffer. With her beauty she is able to enchant them and bend their will to her own. She was drawn to Kang for his ambitiousness, and hatred. She wanted to have a duo to be reckoned with. She was banished along with all of Kang's generals to Mt. Hoshin. Saying for her last words, "My chance for revenge will come...."
- Attacks: She has almost the most attacks out of any enemy. She can create replications of herself, run around and drop special looking mines. She can also make her clones, along with herself shoot pink wave attacks at you. One of the few creative bosses.
Kai - Long before Kang came to power, Kai was a consulate for military and politics. He is quite an adept at using spells, and the best friend of Kirin. Always being loyal to his land, until Sheva bent his will to her own, and made him a cold-hearted warrior. He along with Kang's generals all were sealed in Mt. Hoshin. He became released from the tower after a short moment of his heart becoming pure. But his relapse into evil forced Tai to return him once again.
- Attacks: Kai has a primary combo with his rod, and he will also hit his rod to the ground causing a large wave to come at you. Which is what he will use all the time. Once knocked down he will get up and spin kick you. When at low life will send lightning orbs that when hitting the ground will cause a bolt of lightning to shoot down at the area hit.
Grifon - The most loyal subject under Emperor Kang. Using his power for Kang's "development" of the land. Even after Sheva being married to Kang, and all of Kang's men including him were sealed. His loyalty did not waver in the slightest. He is a very adept warrior, and very learned in the history of the land. He was the one that informed Kang of the Dragon Star, and the Orb. It is known that his intentions were not purely out of loyalty.
- Attacks: Grifon has a primary combo with his sword, and another combo which ends in him stabbing backwards at the finish of the combo. He will also do a lunge kick at you, which is one of his special techniques. He then will stab his sword into the ground, and it will send many spherish rings flying in the air, which is very long range and it is what he will always use.
Aria - The sister of Kai. Since their parents were killed while they both were very young, Kai took the lead in raising her. Due to this she is always by her brother's side. She was destined to become a great mystic. When her brother, along with all of Kang's men were sealed away, she became the guardian of Kang's son, Cyrus. She battled against Shiga, and the others in an attempt to free the ones sealed in the tower, but failed. She is now able to join her brother again and make a comeback due to the help of the Dragon Orb.
- Attacks: Aria can summon back the dead, like the primary magician enemy can. She seems to possess the ability to be able to control people as well. For her attacks, she can merely shoot a blast at you which freezes you, and then she will finish you by forming a red blast and shooting it at you which strikes you three times. It is quick, and does a good amount of damage.
Cyrus - The son of Kang and Sheva. Nobody knew where his heart truly lay due to his secretive nature. When his parents were sealed away, Aria raised him. He later fought against Shiga, nearly succeeding in freeing his parents. It is said that he possesses power greater than that of his parents.
- Attacks: Cyrus will sit on top of the surrounding mountains and will shoot orb blasts at you. He can create clones of himself (find the real one by looking at the minimap), and he has a primary swift combo which he uses on you frequently.
Kresh - Personal follower of Kai, and a member of the most elite mystic group under Kang, K4. He fought in many battles against Shiga, and the others in the past. Even when being defeated, the Dragon Orb revived him to fight again. He is extremely strong, and merely lives to make people's lives miserable.
- Attacks: Kresh has a primary dual club combo, then he can jump in the air and slam back down on the ground creating a large wave of energy, which is the attack he'll always use. When getting back up from being knocked down he will quickly swing his club causing major damage if hit. Use long range magic on him on Hard mode, most likely he will kill you in 1-hit when getting back up if your too close.
Konga - Personal follower of Kai, and a member of the most elite mystic group under Kang, K4. Fighting in many earlier battles against Shiga. Due to the power of the Dragon Orb, he was revived so he could have revenge against Shiga. He is the type that would do anything to achieve his goal. He is a man of very few words, and void of emotions.
- Attacks: Konga really isn't very good...He only has a primary combo where he swings his club. I'm pretty sure he can also jump in the air and do something with his club, but overall there isn't much to him. He can also summon wolves if he is in need of help.
Karas - Member of the elite mystic group K4, and personal follower to Kai. Fighting in earlier battles against Shiga's crew. Due to the Dragon Orb, he was revived to fight a second time. He has the most flair out of all the K4, living by the motto, "I will defeat my enemies in style!"
- Attacks: Karas has a primary quick sword attack combo which does a fair amount of damage and when hit it is hard to block. He also jumps in the air and shoots down one beam which follows by two more which go in a straight line.
Kanon - The leader of the elite mystic group K4, and personal follower to Kai. Due to the Dragon Orb, he lived to fight another day. His pledge: "I will not stop until I kill Shiga and the people of the City of Ancients, of this you can be sure."
- Attacks: Kanon really has only 2 techniques. He can shoot three wavy beams at you which slow you down a lot, then he'll finish you off when you're slow by shooting a fireball at you, which is what seems to be his favorite attack. I'm pretty sure he doesn't even have any primary attacks.
[edit] Enemy Sub-bosses
Bruin - A large bear-like creature. It can jump up in the air and smash back down on the ground. It can ram forward, along with the ability of slashing. May jump into the air and slam down causing an explosion. The Bruin is a sub-boss in many levels.
Juggernaut - A strange looking earth-type creature. It can borrow under the ground, spin to throw around its enemies, and it can shoot beams out of its mouth.
Onyx - A bulky monster-like creature. It can jump up in the air and smash back on the ground. It can tear rocks from the earth and throw them at you. Along with the ability of shooting lasers out of the top part of its head in a spherish direction, along with being able to do 2 punches forward, being invincible when getting up.
Brute - A bulky warrior-like creature all in armor, and wielding a large sword. It mainly just creates large whirlwinds, and swings its sword around. Some Brutes have complete immunity to either all Melee or all Magic.
