Myra Desmond was a fictional characteer in the soap opera Prisoner. She was protrayed by Anne Phelan.
She first arrived on Prisoner as a PRG worker where she helped the women when they are released but several hundred episodes later.. Myra had problems with her husband and daughter witch leads to Myra killing him.. Myra is then placed back inside Wentworth and becomes the new Top Dog taking over from Bea Smith after being transferred to Barnhurst a few episodes before.. Well Myra has a hard time with Top Dog battles with fellow inmates Reb Kean, Marie Winter, Lou Kelly, Bev Baker, Ruth Ballanger and lots more but she never had the women only on her back as she also had to battle with evil warder Joan Ferguson
Myra escaped from Wentworth after finding out her Daughter has gone onto drugs and she needs help before she kills herself so after Myra broke out of prison she traced her Daughter down and took her to Wally's home and she helped her through the holl ordeal before heading back to Wentworth..
Myra has bid farewell to many of her friends Judy Bryant, Geoff McKray and she has heartbreaking news when aload of inmates are transferred from Barnhurst after a riot where they inform everyone over Bea Smith's death.
Myra is almost killed by evil inmates Ruth Ballanger and Lou Kelly with evil warder Joan Ferguson watching but after a fellow inmate May Collins and fellow officer Meg Morris arrive on the scene Myra is saved..
A Terrorist mob break into Wentworth to try and free Ruth Ballanger but after they find themselves trapped inside the prison they hold all the women and screws hostage and threaten to shoot a hostage every hour into there demands are met.. Lou and Lexie Paterson try to fight the terrorists but fail but manage to smuggle back weapons but after another failed attempt the women could only watch as the terrorists shoot inmate Tammy Fisher dead.. A few days later.. the siege is still continuing and the police try and force there way in but ends in bloodshed.. Terrorist prepear to shoot the next hostage when Myra gets in the way and she is told she'll be the next victim.. After begging the terrorists to free Myra.. Myra tells the women not to beg and she asks inmate Nore Flynn to tell her kids she loves them.. all the women watch in horror as Myra is shot dead in front of them..
