MWT is a Microsoft Windows-only anti-vandal tool designed to be free of bloat, limitations on use and a cabal-like user base. MWT is far more lightweight than any other anti-vandal tool out there, and (as of 0.7.6) is only a 30kb download.

[edit] Current features

  • (almost) bugless fetching of Special:Recentchanges
  • Cool colour-changing status bar, also known as ColourBarTM. Note: it's not actually trade marked.
  • Easy 2 button operation, even easier if you have a middle button.
  • Warnings, welcomes and User_Talk spamming.
  • Tabs, although not the easiest to operate, it has had tabs right from the beginning.

[edit] Upcoming features

(feel free to add any feature requests here)
  • User warning detection system (Kinda half implemented, needs some work though)
  • Improved range of warning templates (In progress, thanks Draicone)
  • Mac compatibility (Unlikely, seeing as it's in VB6, try VandalSniper instead)

[edit] Current bugs

(Add a bug to this list if you find one)
  • It's a real RAM hog resolved - not if you use only 1 tab it isn't!
  • Users of lupin's navigational popups may encounter spontaneous "WTF just happened" type problems whilst using MWT. [1]. Use at your own risk - resolved, as far as I can tell
  • Hitting the cancel button on the starting dialog blows the thing up. - fixed
  • The leave message dialog leaves only a signature on the talk page, but no message... - fixed, with yet another workaround
  • VB runtime error '5' for some users on startup, makes the whole thing unusable (noted, 4 instances of this occuring now, next version will have better error handling and a debug output, no solution as of yet)
    • I hade the error on first run, but it did add my name to the user-list of MWT first.

[edit] Development

Three users are involved in the development of MWT:

[edit] Testing

The following users want to test MWT when the next stable release emerges from the shadows:

[edit] IRC

#MWT on the freenode network is generally populated with developers or experienced users, and is by far the easiest way to get real-time help.

[edit] Use of MWT

There are a few policies for running MWT:

  • Use of MWT on sysop accounts is strongly advised against, especially as it is a beta. Sysops are responsible for their actions with this tool if they choose to run it with sysop privs.
  • Warning templates must be handed out appropriately. Go from test 1 through to test 4, skip test 1 or replace skip test 2 and test 3 with blatantvandal instead, but one or the other only.
