MV John Hamilton Gray

The MV John Hamilton Gray {named for John Hamilton Gray) was built has hull number 349 at the Marine Industries shipyard for the CN Marine Prince Edward Island service. She had 16000 horsepower (12 MW) produced by 8 main engines. She had four propellers 2 in bow and 2 in stern. She was 400 feet (122 m) long and a beam of 67 feet (20 m). She entered service in October 1968 and retired in April 1997. She worked on the CN Marine Newfoundland service from May 1972 until September 1988 on an on call basis only. She was towed and scrapped in March 2004 in India after serving as a cruise ship in the Gulf of Mexico by her new American owners who bought her in 1997 after she was retired by Marine Atlantic from the Prince Edward Island service. In her service with CN Marine she could haul train cars, cars and trucks, and passengers. She was a stern loading ice breaking ferry.
