MV Empire MacMahon

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

MV Empire MacMahon was a Shell Oil tanker converted to a Merchant aircraft carrier (MAC ship). She entered service as a MAC ship December 1943.

Displacement 8,856 tons. Converted by Swan Hunter.

At the end of the Second World War, she sailed without Royal Navy crew and carried passengers in their accommodation, mainly to and from Bermuda, the Caribbean and the USA. Most of these were being repatriated after the war.

Towards the end of 1945 she was left in Genova to be reconverted to a conventional tanker by the Italians, as war reparations.
