MV Britannic

MV Britannic was an ocean liner owned by the White Star Line, and the third liner to be named Britannic (the first was scrapped in 1903, and the second - the sister ship of RMS Titanic - was sunk by a mine in 1916).

She was launched on 6 August 1929, and set off on her maiden voyage from Liverpool to New York on 28 June 1930. She was used as a troop carrier during the Second World War, returning to service as a passenger liner in 1948.

In June 1950, she collided with the United States liner Pioneer Land in the Ambrose Channel, but was still seaworthy afterward.

Britannic returned to Liverpool for the last time on 2 December 1960, and was scrapped at Inverkeithing the following year.
