Muzhappilangad Beach

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Muzhappilangad Beach is a beautiful drive-in beach in Kerala (south India) where you can drive for full 4 km, on the sands of the beach. The beach is located parallel to National Highway 17 between Kannur and Thalassery. The beach is borded by black rocks, which also protects it.

There is an unpaved road winding through coconut groves, leading to the beach. The beach is about 5 kilometers long and curves in a wide area providing a good view of Kannur on the north. To the South and about 200 metres away from the beach there is a beautiful island called the Dharmadam Island (Green Island) which adds to the allure of the beach. Such a conjunction of beach and island is rare.
