Talk:Musa Dagh
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I edited some stuff on this page because I felt it didn't focus on the significance of the event itself in 1915. However, if some feel its lacking the physical characteristics of the region itself, feel free to add that.--MarshallBagramyan 07:55, 3 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Coordinates?
Can someone provide coordinates of the mountain so I can find it on services like Google maps?
Thanks. Penedo 23:50, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
The mountain range is about 25 kilometers west of Antioch, Turkey. In Turkish, its known as Musa Dagi. Try using Google Earth since it can be found more easily.--MarshallBagramyan 23:46, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
In Turkey, Antioch is called as Antakya and has also another name, which is more familiar , is Hatay. Most further villages to the Musa Dagh are Vakıflı, Yoğunoluk , etc.
Thanks, I looked it up roughly according to the map included in the Wikipedia entry and am not sure I could make the right mountain. Is there somewere I can buy a current topographic map of the area (I can't read Turkish but maybe with the latin writing I'd be able to make out the names). Also - is there any precise information about the exact positions of the villages? Am I right to assume that they villages are gone? (I'm still reading the book now). Penedo 06:19, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
