Mustafa (Austin Powers)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mustafa is a character in the Austin Powers franchise. He is one of Dr. Evil's assassins, and is remembered for his uncanny ability to cheat death, as well as his 'fez'. He is played by Will Ferrell.
When Dr. Evil incinerates all his henchmen in the first movie, Frau Farbissina and Mustafa are the only ones he spares. Mustafa is in charge of building the cryogenic freezing unit that cryogenically freezes Dr. Evil and his cat. He also built the heating system that allows Dr. Evil to incinerate his minions at will, and built in a safeguard to allow him to escape should Dr. Evil ever use the system against him.
In the first film, Dr. Evil becomes enraged at the fact that Mustafa did not anticipate the complications in unfreezing Mr. Bigglesworth (it caused him to lose all his fur). He promptly uses his incineration system to attempt to kill Mustafa. However, Mustafa survives and somehow slips into the flame ducts. Badly burned but alive, Mustafa tells Dr. Evil he built the system and knows how to escape. Dr. Evil calls another henchman, after which Mustafa is shot. He survives the first bullet, but not the second.
In the sequel, Mustafa appears in 1969 and still works for Dr. Evil. He drives off a cliff, but escapes without injury. He is shown to have an odd quirk in that he cannot stand being asked a question 3 times. Thus, he will answer the third time to stop people from asking again. Mini-Me shoots Mustafa in the neck with a dart, and he falls off a cliff. Once again, Mustafa survives, but breaks both his legs. After the ending credits, he is heard to be alive, but still cannot move.
It was intended for Mustafa to appear in the third film Goldmember, in which he could not stand for someone to ask a question 4 times. This would imply that he survived the cliff fall, but the scene was cut from the film, and Mustafa does not appear. However, this appearance is covered in the book that ties in with the films.
