Vanuatu is a Pacific island nation whose music industry has been rapidly growing since the 1990s. The early part of that decade saw bands like Huarere and Tropic Tempo forge a distinctly Vanuatuan modern musical identity, and more bands have followed in their footsteps, including XX-Squad and Vanessa Quai.
Traditional instruments are the tamtam drum, which is intricately carved from a log, as well as panpipes, conch shells, and gongs.
