Muratti
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Muratti is an annual football match, begun in 1905, between the Channel Islands of Guernsey, Jersey and Alderney for a trophy called the Muratti Vase. Both Matthew Le Tissier and Graeme le Saux at some point played in the Muratti. The match is held in both islands on alternating years, interrupted only in 1915-1919 and 1940-1946, due to the First and Second World Wars. The teams wear the island colours of green and white (Guernsey) and red and white (Jersey).
As of 2006, Jersey is in the lead with 48 wins, Guernsey has 42, and Alderney 1 (in 1920).
