[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:John_scott_redd.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:John_scott_redd.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 23:39, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 24 DVD releases

Hi. I've removed the 5th season from the DVD release table because Wikipedia is not the place to speculate on that kind of information. Once the DVD is announced with a release date you may add it. Thanks. Jtrost 15:46, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

Please review the WP:V policy. Online stores cannot be considered verifiable sources. Unless Fox has announced an official date for the DVD, any release date made by retailers is considered speculation. Jtrost (T | C | #) 14:11, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging for Image:NCIS_S1.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:NCIS_S1.jpg. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to indicate why we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies under Wikipedia's fair use guidelines, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you want the image to be deleted, tag it as {{db-unksource}}.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.

[edit] License tagging for Image:Crusade season 1.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Crusade season 1.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:DH2-Fine-print.jpg)

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:DH2-Fine-print.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. meco 07:28, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] E-Ring articles

Regarding your recent creation of E-Ring related articles, I have two points.

  1. These characters are not notable enough to each merit their own article. They should all be discussed on the main page for the show.
  2. You are copying all of the content that you are adding to the Wikipedia from this private website, which is illegal. Please stop and remove all of this content, preferably replacing each article with "#REDIRECT [[E-Ring]]".

Please do these things and there will be no issues regarding copyright violations or notability requirements. — Scm83x hook 'em 09:38, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

If the information came from NBC.com, then it is also a copyright violation. Copyright violation is not a matter of degrees, but if I were to guess, I'd say NBC.com would be more vigorous protecting their copyrights than e-ringonline.com. This is still an issue. You are violating copyrights; remove the content or it will be removed for you. — Scm83x hook 'em 10:20, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging for Image:NCIS_Season_2.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:NCIS_Season_2.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] Diagnosis Murder

Hi - sorry about that. Didn't realize that it would interfere with templates. It's just standard form to not capitalize the word "episode" in the article title. I won't do anymore, but if you could that'd be great. Sorry again. --Hamiltonian 19:48, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use images in templates

Greetings. I've noticed you have created a number of templates [1][2][3][4] that include images tagged with fair use tags (such as {{Tv-screenshot}}. Please note that Wikpedia policy as written at Wikipedia:Fair use criteria item #9 proscribes the use of fair use images outside of the main article namespace. Thus, their use in templates or userspace is not permitted. I've removed the violations you've made. Please do not reinsert the images into the respective templates. If you have any questions about this, I'd be happy to answer. Thanks, --Durin 02:00, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] List of Diagnosis: Murder episodes

You started an AfD for List_of_Diagnosis:_Murder_episodes, but you didn't create Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/List_of_Diagnosis:_Murder_episodes to explain why you wanted to delete the article. --TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 04:13, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Edit summaries

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. } -TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 04:13, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Pic chr algazi.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Pic chr algazi.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Thank you. [edit] Image:Peter macnicol.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Peter macnicol.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Oden 06:06, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Personal attack

Hi, thanks for helping to erradicate vandalism from Wikipedia. However, the message that you left on this user's talk page would be classed as a personal attack, even if the user did behave as an ass. Instead, please follow the guidelines for dealing with vandalism and user warnings. Thanks Shoessss 14:45, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
