Municipality of Metepec

Metepec is about 7km from Toluca, in the State of Mexico in Mexico and is a fast growing urban area that has grown around the ancient village. Shopping centres and malls, supermarkets, fast food stores, automobile agencies, private schools, cyber cafes, cinemas, discos, and residential developments are to be found in abundance. The old village centre has an interesting former Franciscan convent in barroque style constructed in 1775. Many local shops sell brightly painted baked clay figures including the well known Trees of Life, candlestick suns, moons and religious figures. The large Monday market has all types of fresh vegetables and fruit.
