Mundaring and Hills Historical Society

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mundaring and Hills Historical Society Local history society based in Mundaring Western Australia.

Patronised by the Mundaring Shire Council, and affiliated with the Historical Societies of Western Australia, the society is a vital conduit for the disparate heritage and history issues in the shire area - in earlier times a group of scattered communities linked by the railway branches that now constitutes the Railway Reserve Heritage Trail.

Prior to the formation of the Society, historical and heritage issues in the hills region saw significant losses of information, and loss of details of people and properties. The society has corrected this, being able to attract significant funding and patronage to maintain a museum and to collect a wide range of materials and information.

Based in a heritage property - the Glen Forrest former Railway Station Master's house - and with a museum in the former school room in Mundaring, known as the Mundaring District Museum

It is also one of the organisations heavily involved in the annual Trek the Trail which utilises sections of the Railway Reserve Heritage Trail as an outdoor event.

It has regular meetings with talks as well as tours. It appears to have no web-page or web presence.

It also distributes its newsletter through the Mundaring Shire local libraries. -' Katherine Sussanah Prichard Memorial Library in Greenmount and in the Albert Facey Memorial Library in Mundaring
