Mulavi Younas Khalis

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Maulavi Mohammad Younas Khalis (alternate spellings Yunis and Younis) was a mujahideen commander in Afghanistan during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. His party was called Hezb-i-Islami ("Party of Islam"), the same as Gulbuddin Hekmatyar's party. The two are commonly differentiated as Hezb-i-Islami (Khalis) and Hezb-i-Islami (Gulbuddin).

Like most Afghan mujahideen commanders, Khalis is alleged to have participated in war crimes.

According to a statement from his son, Anwar al-Haq Mojahed, Yunis Khalis died on 19 July 2006.[1]
