Muirhouse

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Muirhouse is a suburb of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. It is west of Granton and the housing estates of East Pilton and West Pilton, and north-west of Ferry Road.

The area is primarily made up of council housing, the estate having been begun in 1953. However, the name is much older, coming from a mansion built on Marine Drive in 1832.

[edit] Trivia

The acclaimed novelist Irvine Welsh grew up in Muirhouse as did Celtic manager Gordon Strachan.
