[edit] How to create redirects

I see you've been copying existing Wikipedia articles and pasting them into new articles with different names. Instead of doing this, you should be creating redirects. Redirects are articles with different names (such as alternate spellings) that take a reader to the main article. In this way, someone searching for Bank Al-Falah will end up at the article Bank Alfalah. Thanks! -- Merope Talk 20:02, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Please review these instructions before creating any more articles. Do not simply cut and paste existing Wikipedia articles. -- Merope Talk 20:16, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Please stop creating duplicate articles

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. I see you are making copies of a large number of Pakistan related articles and then creating new articles with " Limited" on the end of the article name. Please stop doing this. This is known as a cut and paste move and is the wrong way of doing it.

Normally a "move" button is available next to the "history" button at the top of the page and this should be used to move the page - this maintains the version history. This might not be available if your account is new (less than four days I think).

Another way is to create a redirect from the new name to the existing name, for example if the existing article was ZXC QWE and you wanted to be able to access it from ZXC QWE Limited then you would create "ZXC QWE Limited" with the following content:

#REDIRECT [[ZXC QWE]]

For more information please see:

Additionally renaming these articles is not required and is actually opposite to what Wikipedia policy says. Please have a read of:
Wikipedia:Naming conventions#Companies
"Convention: The legal status of the company (Corp., plc or LLC), is not normally included, i.e. Microsoft or Wal-Mart. When disambiguation is needed, legal status, main company interest or "(company)" can be used to disambiguate: for example, Halifax (bank) or Converse (company). When the legal status is used, it is abbreviated in the article title. In the article itself, the title sentence of the article should include the abbreviated legal status. For example: Generic Corp. Ltd. is largest provider of widgets in the world."

Can you acknowledge that you have read these messages? I notice that while you have stop most of the renamign etc you are still updating bits of the list of Pakistan companies to include "Limited" on the end - please do not. Thanks/wangi 20:44, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Daily Express Pakistan.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Daily Express Pakistan.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 18:06, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
