Muhammad Ali Samatar

Muhammad Ali Samatar (born 1931) is a Somalian politician. He was an important official in the Siad Barre regime, and served as prime minister of Somalia from February 1, 1987 to September 3, 1990. He was the first person to become prime minister of Somalia since 1969 when Siad Barre became President and abolished the prime minister's position. Before becoming prime minister, Samatar was a general in the Somali military, and served as defense minister.
