Description

Mount Rae, Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada
This photo was taken from directly over Elbow lake in the Elbow pass (looking south-east-ish).

The scramble up to the summit is via the Ptarmigan cirque and then up to the col. The col can be seen on the right about half way up the image. It is reached from the other side by a trail leading up from the back of the Ptarmigan cirque. The Ptarmigan cirque is accessed from the Highwood pass parking lot on HWY 40. A small remnant of a glacier is visible in the bottom right. The scramble proceeds from the col to the summit in the top left via a variety of routes which can be seen in the high resolution version of this photo.
