We are investigating "Lostsociety" and have traced the IP

ed_vegan_rolling_paper%29&action=history (removed inappropriate post with further accusatory language and mis-spellings)

I am not allowed to say the companies that I worked for in the past due to non disclosure agreements. I have already posted who I work for and write for now and you can read my latest article in the upcoming September issue of CSP (Convenience Store Petroleum). I have met your aunt Nancy 3 different times during my life. I think I know which relative you are, because she mentioned that one of her kids who lived in Manhattan was working for an agency. I assume that person is "Lostsociety". This user has posted dozens of images of Bambu products and lies about the origin of them. For example Lostsociety posted and keeps posting an image of the flavored papers, claims the image came off of the Bambu website. However after scrutiny that image does not exist on their website. So, why would a person constantly write promotional language about a particular brand (saying it is the #1 selling, putting down competing brands, reposting over and over again promotional language, fighting with administators to keep reposting the same promotional language, using 2 different identities to repost that same bambu promotional language, etc..). It stands to reason that the user Lostsociety is the 'prodigal son' of Bambu Sales Inc., a New York corporation.

(posted by Bambu representative "lostsociety"); I roll my own joints, that is it.. I have no idea who Nancy is?!? Mr. tobacco you are a crazy worker for Juicy Jay. This much is obvious. Bambu is New York's and the world's greatest paper. everyone knows that. Your a joke,.

(response); I will save your posts about how you "roll joints" for any future proceedings against your company BAMBU SALES INC by the DEA. Nancy will thank you.

Unlike you I do not roll or smoke Joints. Please do not post your drug messages here.

(posted by Bambu representative "lostsociety"); Who ever mentioned anything about drugs? Get a life.

(response);Read your posts in your contributions folder, then also read above where you post "Joints".

[edit] No Problem

Hey. Your reverting my changes to the rolling papers page is no problem. By the way, you should sign your "discussion" posts at the end using four tildes (~~~~). That just makes it easier to see who's posting. Thanks. --Raoul Duke 06:01, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Merge

I replaced the merge tags at rolling papers. Normally if there are tags like that it's bad form to simply remove them, but in this instance your actions was the correct one. The person who added the tags should have made some effort to explain on the talk page why these should be merged. Butr they didn't, so I've gone the more conservative option and made a spot for you to state your objections!

  • Edit adding tags
I modified the page to follow that user's logical conclusion, and listed another 15 known brands to be "merged". Can you imagine how silly the page would look in the end? Please remove all of the merge requests and explain to that user he was outright wrong :( --Mrtobacco 19:00, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
As nicely as possible, I'd suggest that you review the page regarding disrupting wikipedia to make a WP:POINT. This is not productive editing. - brenneman {L} 12:52, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RAW (unbleached vegan rolling paper)

I hope that you was not in any way offended by me tagging the article with Template:Advertising. I think the article has a small potential above what it is today, since it is a limited topic. However, I'm very glad that you removed the worst advertising :) Keep up the good work. Btw, it is not considered good practise to remove the advertising tag so fast, better discuss it on the talk-page of that article. In this situation, it was quite OK to remove it, since you removed the promo language, but so in general, leave it up to the consensus on the talk page to remove such a notice :) Good luck on wikipedia :) vidarlo 15:07, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

However, removing it a second time when someone else added that template, is plain wrong. vidarlo 12:21, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bambu

i've rewritten the page, and hopefully it is satisfactory now. if the Bambu company continually inserts pov and unreferenced statements from ips i will semi-protect the page, but that is only a temporary solution. If they don't keep altering ips they can be warned and blocked.

fyi, anyone can remove a tag from a wiki article, with the exception of a few tags, like ones saying a page is protected. admins are not "wiki-staff", all the editors are wiki staff. That's the whole point of wikipedia!

I've also removed the pic of the newspaper article, because that picture and the article don't belong in the bambu article. if you can find a link to it, or any other link to any information on the legal proceedings, that would be most helpful. I haven't tried yet but i'll do a quick search when i have the time.

--heah 19:04, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

I've dropped a note on 24.x.x.x's talk page, warning him. if he keeps it up please let me know and i'll take care of it. --heah 19:17, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
I've blocked him for two days. he will be blocked again if he continues after the block expires. --heah 01:47, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Hi Mrtobacco, I am interested in that story at Bambu about the alleged carcinogen scandal, however I can't read Spanish. Did you realize that the link isn't in English? I don't feel that is much appropriate for English Wikipedia, although I suppose it's preferred over no source at all. Also, when I did a Google search, I found no information related to such a scandal involving Smoking in Spain and adding carcinogens to their product. Additionally, I have added a new category to the article. If you feel that "cannabis" and "tobacco" are relevant, please add them to the article rolling papers. Thanks. - GilliamJF 18:52, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Sorry that you no comprende but my wife is Mexican so I've learned quite a bit in the past 25 years!! In terms of confirming the Bambu/Smoking thing I have read 5 articles so far and all say the same thing dude.

And there is a lot more out there too. I think the problem is "Esparto" which causes like "Esparto gas" which is possibly filled with toxins. I've never heard of anyone using Esparto in their paper before. Usually it's flax, hemp, rice, and pulp. Here is something from 1996 in Spain that says Esparto causes problems; http://www.amat.es/convenio/circulares/2003/DICIEMBRE/CIRCULAR%20N%C2%BA%20114-03/Circular%20n%C2%BA%20114-03.pdf

Well, thanks for the further information. What a strange story it is. And the executives at Smoking are facing possible time in prison? I was abroad in Europe and often bought Smoking brand products (extra wide papers) while there. Wow, it's just such a bizzare story. - GilliamJF 22:34, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Page protection

Hi Mrtobacco. I removed the {{sprotect}} tag from Rolling papers because the tag is only really used by admins after a page has been protected. Adding the tag before protection is usually counter-productive. If you want to request page protection, either list the page at WP:RPP, or contact an admin such as User:Heah who offered to protect it above. -- zzuuzz (talk) 09:17, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Reverted Again

I read your post on the Sprotect and see what you are talking about. I reverted the Vandalism you mentioned back to your original versions. Good Luck ! --66.38.129.154 20:29, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Looking to Trade

Anyone know where I can trade for some more Camel Brand rolling papers? I need the new 2006 style pack for my collection!

[edit] lost society

hiya. well, semi-protection isn't really justified unless it's happening a few times a day. otherwise it's best just to revert him; right now it's like once a week. --heah 18:51, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Blunts

That wasn't a quote from me, I was reverting someones deletion of it due to the reasoning they used in the edit summary. If you want to remove it because of a lack of references, please do so. ReverendG 17:51, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Minnesota meetup

A meetup of Wikipedians in Minnesota is proposed: please stop by the discussion page if interested. Jonathunder 22:44, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Got it! I hope to be there :) --Mrtobacco 14:36, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Great! Just a reminder: Meetup October 29, one o'clock, Mall of America. Jonathunder 16:05, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

(removed some gibberish written in poor English and moved to anonymous poster's page - very strange dude)
