[edit] Your RFA

Congratulations on your promotion, and you're very welcome! --Merovingian - Talk 00:26, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Blocking and...

Great to hear you passed on your RfA, I had this feeling you would come through. Now the timing of your RfA could not be any better. This user JG55 has kept abusing me and User:Super-Magician, have a look at this, this oh, and this. I got Xyrael to block her for 48 hours, but she's back. JG55 also likes getting blocked. And a x-freind (I think they had a fight recently) called Icelandic Hurricane, agrees she should get blocked for a period of time to think things through about their freindship and my abuse that I've been getting. Plus, shes made no encyclopediac contributions. This is my disscussion with Icelandic hurricane (it might me good if you could go through our disscusion):

My talk page:

[edit] Re:10 years old!!!

Just to let you know, she's actually almost 13. íslenskur fellibylur #12 (samtal) 21:16, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

She's just weird sometimes. íslenskur fellibylur #12 (samtal) 21:33, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
Not gonna work. She's mad at me over a stupid little thing cuz i asked her to apologized to me, and she won't, so she won't let me talk to here. Plus, earlier, she said that she purposely wanted to get banned, and she gets all happy when she does. So don't be reluctant to ban her, cuz she wants to. íslenskur fellibylur #12 (samtal) 22:30, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
She hasn't made any encyclopediac contribution at all. íslenskur fellibylur #12 (samtal) 23:05, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
I know this sounds weird, but just ban her for a while. Maybe she'll be glad I got her banned even longer and not be mad at me anymore. íslenskur fellibylur #12 (samtal) 23:20, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
I don't know, a week, I guess. íslenskur fellibylur #12 (samtal) 23:59, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

Icelandic Hurricanes talk page:

[edit] Mmmm...

Thats odd, why would JG55 say she's 10? Oh yeah, I'm getting Xyrael to block her again for repeated abuse & insults (i'm staying cool!!!) -- Lego@lost EVIL, EVIL! | 21:33, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

Maybe you could talk some sense into her, if she stops I'll take back my note I sent Xyrael again to block her, I don't like people getting blocked, but sometimes It's for their own good. Thanks. -- Lego@lost EVIL, EVIL! | 21:39, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
Ok:
  • firstly, this is really odd.
  • Secondly, I swear that I'm 11.
  • Thirdly, I'm talk to Xyrael about either ignoring her or getting an indefinite block.
  • and in addition, Is she really contributing to this encylopedia? -- Lego@lost EVIL, EVIL! | 22:54, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
Xyrael is not responding, I'll try Mr. Lefty. Also, before I do that, how long is a while? -- Lego@lost EVIL, EVIL! | 23:35, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
I'll get Mr. Lefty to do it. Hopefully -- Lego@lost EVIL, EVIL! | 00:16, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Take into account the [I don't know, 1 week I guess] Bit, thanks Mr. Lefty -- Lego@lost EVIL, EVIL! | 00:38, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nishkid64's RfA thanks

Thank you very much for participating in my RfA, which closed successfully earlier today with a result of (60/9/4). Although, I encountered a few problems in my RfA, I have peacefully resolved my conflicts and made amends with the people involved. If you have any further questions or suggestions, feel free talk to me. I hope I will live up to your expectations. --Nishkid64 22:14, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re my block of 84.58.210.250

I see you have already changed the block from indef to 31 hours. OK. If there is anyone genuine at 84.58.210.250 they could have left a message on a talk page, and if there is only one person there (the vandal) we would have been well rid of him/her. However, policy is policy, so thanks for reducing the block. Moriori 00:54, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pots and Pans

Why are you deleting Pots and Pans constantly? I don't know if it was you who deleted Pots and Pans the first time so I'll understand where you are coming from right now. Seeing as my page as no information, that is clear grounds for deletion. But wikipedia is quite confusing, so the only way I knew how to communicate was to create an article and call you guys out. So now that I'm doing this formally, can I get a reason?

Alright, that's cool, but if you could do you have access to the deletion log? I'd like to speak to the person who deleted our first article "Pots and Pans" sometime around 8 o'clock CST. If you could do that, I'd appreciate it very much.

If you guys are talking about "The Fag", it is a joke amongst the "Pots and Pans" members. The article was created by members of the group, so it was in no way an attack. I'll continue this conversation with Mr. Rosoft. Thank you, Mr. Lefty.

[edit] Helping out with the backlog

Hi there and congratulations on your brand new sysop flag. Now that you are an admin, you might want to help the community in a way you weren't able to before. The obvious example is clearing out the Category:Administrative backlog :-) You might want to start with Wikipedia:Requested moves which I find the easiest to deal with. You don't need to spend a lot of time there, if every admin (we have 1000 of us!) spent just 1 minute a day clearing backlogs, we'd have no backlogs at all! If you have any questions, just drop me a note! Enjoy! :-) --Dijxtra 14:02, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Mr. Lefty, could you please unblock this IP address. This is a shared IP address from the University of Oklahoma. What is your reason of protecting "Bitweaver" from re-creation??? This gets really dirty!!!

[edit] Why did you blank the Smash Bros. RP page?

It was a well formed article with constant upkeep and made from a neutral point of view. It was made purely for informative purposes, and the deletion of such a page is markable as vandalism.

Maybe so, but the reason I deleted it was because it did not assert its notability. If you can show how this website fulfills the criteria enumerated in WP:WEB, then feel free to repost it. --Mr. Lefty Talk to me! 21:45, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Hello. I was just wondering, is it really fair to delete an unintentional duplication of a deleted category without a formal CFD submission? ACS (Wikipedian); Talk to the Ace. See what I've edited. 22:36, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Maybe not "fair," but certainly permissible. It just wastes time to have a duplicated discussion as well as a duplicated category. --Mr. Lefty (talk) 22:38, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Question about Deletion of milblogging

Hi Mr. Lefty,

I'm confused why Milblogging.com was deleted so quickly. I hadn't even had a chance to enter all the content before it was deleted. The web site is notable based on Wikipedia's Notable Policy.

It was one of the first handful of blogging sites ever purchased, and it was purchased by Monster.com. It has been featured in the media, including radio, print, internet and much more. This includes NPR, Newsweek, The Washington Post, Rush Limbaugh, and more.

Can I resubmit the article and include this information, or will it be deleted?

Thanks for your help

Ok wrong tag on my part sorry .. I've changed it and provided the reason, btw shouldnt matter if its FA, if there are inaccuracies it should be shown!!!! Otherwise the accuracy of this fine idea (wikipedia) is lost. 222.155.21.111 18:20, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] One more thing...

I got an email today regarding a block that I made to User:PI-ETA (indefblock).

"My username is Ariedartin and I am a frequent contributor on Wikipedia. You have recently blocked the account PI-ETA, and I fully understand the reasons for your action. However, I do not understand why you must block the IP address as well. I am a resident of Singapore, and our ISPs only have a few IP addresses to share amongst countless thousands of users. Therefore, blocking just one IP address will always encumber quite a number of Singaporean Wikipedians as well.

Hence, I would like to request you to lift the block off the IP address, as it inconveniences us more than it corrects any problems. If possible, block just PI-ETA's account, but please do not inconvenience the untold numbers of fellow Wikipedians who are unable to make their contributions to Wikipedia.

Thank you."

Two things here...

1) Why did all users from that IP get blocked?

2) I told him I can't unblock him if I don't know his IP. Is this true?

Thanks. Nishkid64 19:55, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks! Now I understand this whole autoblock thing. Nishkid64 20:11, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Finally some help ... these vandals are starting to get on my nerves :@ ... Any way of preventing this sort of attack? 222.155.21.111 20:56, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Unfortunately, you can't really prevent vandalism - you just have to keep reverting it. Warning the users with the templates on this page also helps. If they vandalize after their last warning, report them at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism and someone will take care of it. --Mr. Lefty (talk) 20:57, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I apologize.

I apologize for writing irrelevant crap on the Hui (secret societies) page.

But boy, aren't you prompt with the warning! Good job, Mr. Lefty.

[edit] Michael Hendry

A page which you deleted got rapidly recreated. Where should that sort of thing be reported ? -- Beardo 00:14, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

You can just tag the article with something from Category:Speedy deletion templates and warn the article's creator. If they continue to recreate the page, report them to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. --Mr. Lefty (talk) 00:15, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RfA thanks

Thank you very much for your support in my RfA, which passed on October 17, 2006 with a tally of 53/6/0. I am equally elated and humbled by my new capacity as administrator of Wikipedia, and I send my heartfelt thanks for your unflinching support. If you need me for anything, just ask me! [edit] Problem with the move of Fresa y chocolate

How do we either (a) move Fresa y chocolate back to the correct (Spanish) capitalization of its title —lower-case for all words after the first — or, better yet, (b) retitle the article with the movie's English title, Strawberry and Chocolate (caps as shown), with redirects from the two Spanish names? Wikipedia policy generally holds that such things should be under the English translation of the foreign-language title, so I don't have a problem with that, but if we leave it in Spanish, then it's incorrect to capitalize the way we would in English. I can't just revert the article, because someone else came along and made changes that I don't want to lose, and I don't know how to move articles. Please assist. Lawikitejana 04:36, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

Oh, sorry about that. I went ahead and moved the article back to the correct title; no changes to the page since then were lost. Again, my apologies. --Mr. Lefty (talk) 20:54, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
No problem ... as I say, it probably would be best in the end to move it to the English title, but I don't know anything about moving and am not an admin, so I'm scarcely the right person for the job! :) Lawikitejana 20:58, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
Well, you don't have to be an admin to move pages unless a page has to be deleted to make way for it. You can also read Help:Moving a page for more info on that. --Mr. Lefty (talk) 20:59, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Kudos

Haha, thanks. Im going to be honest, seeing as how you appear to be an administrator and all. I made a profile here with the sole intent of breaking the rules and making a few pages that falsly document the lives of my friends. Kudos, though; I don't think that my "Andrew William Kennedy" page was up for more than 90 seconds. Quick work.

[edit] My RfA thanks

Hi, Mr. Lefty! Thank you for supporting me in my RfA, which succeeded with a final tally of 75/0/1! I hope I can live up to the standards of adminship, and I will try my best to make Wikipedia a better place. Feel free to send me a message if you need any assistance. :)

[edit] Banning Complaint

We, the people, are the people known as the Blight People, our goal is to vagrantly vandalize any page as we feel like it. Recently, however, while we were on our daily rounds, you banned our account for vandalism made to the User page of the honorable Mr Pilhet, while our banning was well deserved and we gratuitously applaud you for your good judgment, we have a small complaint.

You referred to our vandalism on our talk as being "racist", this we protest to, while the vandalism was appalling and could be construed as racist, we would expect a person whose talk page links to two separate Uncyclopedia articles to have more sense, it was racist in an ironic fashion.

It started out as my associates merely mocking Mr Pilhet's dislike of Westerns (we mean, really, Westerns are more American than apple pie, far more, because apples are red, and red is the color of Communism), and took on a life of its own.

The comments may have been racist, but it was not in contempt towards Muslims, it was in contempt towards those damn Christians.--The Blight People 15:58, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed you blocked User:85.160.77.92 for 24 hours. If you look at the contribution history for this IP address, you'll see linkspam additions to 1 or 2 articles per minute. That seeems too fast; it might indicate a spambot, all for the same site pointie.com. Please consider an indefinite block. Thanks. =Axlq 17:26, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Just a heads up, you never deleted its talk page ;). (I just rather tell you here then nominate it for speedy deletion since you just deleted the regular article 5 minutes ago) AlanTalk - Contributions 20:26, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for explaining some of the intracacies of speedy deletion at the Coca-Cola Fright AfD. I've been getting involved in more XfD stuff (as per suggestions at my editor review) and, while I think I've got a pretty good feel for what is and isn't appropriate for speedy deletion, there are obviously a few little rules that escape me. :-) EVula 20:30, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rihanna image abuser

Hey, just wondered if you could help or advise with respect to User:Vipona who continually ignores my (and various Bot) warnings to stop uploading unlicenced and unsourced images, and then using them on various Rihanna based articles. It's taking a lot of energy to stay calm and keep reverting all the work. The user clearly ignores all messages left for him/her. What to do? Budgiekiller 21:36, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Cheers, don't know if you've had a chance to examine the history of all this, but it's really, really boring and the user in question seems determined... Budgiekiller 21:42, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
They seem to have stopped for now, but I am prepared to block upon one more unlicensed image upload or addition. Thanks for the heads-up! --Mr. Lefty (talk) 21:46, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
The MO of this particular user is to upload three or four images and then insert them into Rhianna and her sub-articles. This occurs usually every three or four days. If I notice it again (before you), I'll let you know. Thanks for the help...! Budgiekiller 21:48, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The Clean PC

I was not promoting the business, I did not even have a link to the web site. It mearly gave a definition describing the business entitity. I do a search for Microsoft and they do still have their page on Wikipedia. We should flag this one for deletion if ours if flag as well. I understand Wikipedia is not an advertising medium, but my article included no promotional material. Please reverse your deletion, or explain why big companies like Microsoft can have a definition, but small companies like our company can not give a non-marketing definition. There are many, many other companies listed in here, you will need to explain why you considered our submision as a "promotion." Thank you.
