Mr. Hero is a restaurant chain selling submarine sandwiches in Northeastern Ohio. It began in 1965 when its founder purchased a Cleveland restaurant and has been expanding ever since. In the 1980's and early 1990's, the company operated several locations under the name "Mr. Philly".
Via its franchising arm, Restaurant Developers Corporation, it has a presence as far away as Toledo and continues to grow. Outlets have begun selling other foods beside sandwiches. The original is called "The Italian", a sub with pepperoni. The Mr. Hero cheeseburger has 2 beef patties and white American cheese.
[edit] Menu items
Mr. Hero's most famous sandwich, the RomanBurger, is a cheeseburger with italian loaf, cheese salami and sub sandwich components piled on top of it. The chain also sells waffle fries.
