Mr. Bean is a British animated television series based on the British comedy Mr. Bean.

[edit] Introduction

The character of Mr. Bean was revived in this 2002 animated series, which again featured little actual dialogue, with most being either little soundbites or mumbling, similar to Happy Tree Friends. Rowan Atkinson provided the voice for Bean, and all of the animated Bean actions are taken from Atkinson himself. Other characters' voices are provided by Jon Glover, Rupert Degas, Gary Martin and Lorelei King.

Some people have questioned the point of an animated Mr. Bean, as although he is now capable of far stranger adventures (and facial expressions), they lack the interest generated when it was an actual person doing it. However, an colorful animated character is more endearing to younger children than an actor.

The series is notable for following up on the "alien" origin theory for the character, with its final episode revealing a race of identical Beans who come to retrieve their lost friend, only to have him opt to stay on Earth with his girlfriend.

[edit] Title dispute in Anglophone countries

Despite the series' actual title being simply Mr. Bean, some broadcasters are referred to this series as Mr. Bean: plus a subtitle for disambiguating with the original live-action series. Disney Channel in Southeast Asia refers this series as "Mr. Bean: The Animated Series". In addition, Cartoon Network in Japan refers to this series as "Mr. Bean Animated" in the TV schedule page in English.

[edit] Trivia

  • Mr. Bean's signature is the same as the one used in the original '90s merchandising for the live-action series and movie.
  • Mr. Bean's flat number is 2.
  • Mr. Bean, Irma Gobb, Mr. Bean's teddy bear, and the mysterious driver of the blue car are the only characters from the original live action series to be seen in Mr. Bean: The Animated Series.

[edit] Broadcasting
