[edit] The need for a second license template
In case it's still unclear. This template describe a "by permission", non-commercial, non-derivative type license. So if it's used on it's own with no fair use tag it's the archtype for the improper license speedy criterea. The alternative would be to just turn this tag into a fair use one. --Sherool (talk) 06:20, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
- Mozilla images have been debated for a very long time. Though Mozilla releases them—read the template in full, and the Mozilla copyright pages it links to, if that is the problem—Wikipedia policy forbids this sort of thing on a generalized scale. Still, I think the way we're using these images qualifys as fair use, if nothing else. I am not a lawyer, but I think that, for simplicity, we need to include the relevant parts of {{logo}} in this template, rather than just tack it on. The other problem is use in things like Portal:Free software. But I'm willing to compromise. Let's work out the cases where fair use applies, then to the fuzzy cases (reader-facing but not strictly needed), then the ones where it does not.--HereToHelp 22:37, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
