A Mozartkugel (English: Mozart sphere) is a type of ball-shaped chocolate-coated confectionery, consisting of a core of pistachio- and almond-marzipan, with an outer layer of nougat coated with bittersweet chocolate. It was invented in 1890 in Salzburg by Paul Fürst and was named after Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who was born in that city. A number of different confectioners now also produce chocolates as Mozartkugeln.
