The Movement for Renewal or Democratic Initiative Movement (Mouvement de la Rénovation-Ettajdid or Mouvement Initiative Démocratique) is a political party in Tunisia. It evolved out of the Tunisian Communist Party. In the 1999 parliamentary elections it received 1.04%, and it won five seats in the 1999 Tunisian parliament. The general secretary of MR-Ettajdid is Mohamed Harmel. At the last legislative elections, on 24 October 2004, the party won 1.0% of the popular vote and 3 out of 189 seats. The same day, its candidate, Mohamed Ali Halouani, won 1.0% in the presidential election. MR-Ettajdid published at-Tariq al-Jadid (New Path).
