[edit] Technical Specifications

[edit] FTP and FTPS-based file transfers

MOVEit Freely v.4.0 can transfer files to and from most FTP and FTP/S servers using traditional plaintext FTP or SSL-encrypted FTP/S.

[edit] SSL Features

MOVEit Freely offeres 128-bit key SSL encryption of FTPS transfers. All three modes of FTPS (IMPLICIT, TLS-P and TLS-C) transfer methods are supported for maximum compatibility with FTPS servers. (The software is compliant with RFC 2228 “FTP Security Extensions”)

The client can ignore or validates X.509 SSL server certificates (it validates by default) and can present X.509 SSL client certificates for authentication.

[edit] Passive Mode and Alternate Ports

FTP and FTPS passive mode file transfers are supported. Client side NAT support is available to deal with port disagreements with certain FTP servers. Alternate control ports are also allowed (for example, "2121" instead of the usual "21").

[edit] Transfer Compression, Resume and Integrity Checking

Automatic zlib file compression for faster transfers is available with MOVEit DMZ servers and many third-party FTP servers. Resume of interrupted transfers with possible with MOVEit DMZ servers and many third-party FTP servers. Automatic SHA1 file integrity checking (provides file Non-Repudiation) is available when used with a MOVEit DMZ server.

[edit] Supported Operating Systems

MOVEit Freely runs on Microsoft Windows XP, 2003, 2000, ME, 98 and NT 4.0. It can also be run in these environments when running under EMC VMware or Microsoft Virtual Server.
