[edit] The four races

[After getting an account, there is a first choice. There are four races of trolls, each specialized in an aspect of fighting.

The Skrim

The Skrim are specialists at fighting, their dexterity helps them to hit their enemy easily and their vivacity allows them to attack while their enemy don't expect it.

The Kastar

The Kastar are strong troll, they are not as skillful as the Skrim, but they are able to inflict great damage to their opponent and they can ignore their tiredness to act faster.

The Durakuir

The Durakuir are a kind of very resistant troll. They are often healers in their group and occupy monsters while their team-mates fight, but some of them are also formidable warriors, as they can heal their own injuries by concentrating.

The Tomawak

The Tomahawk are the scouts of the trolls. They can spot their preys even before these can see them. Moreover, their ability to hide make them very difficult to see. Each race has a proper skill and a proper spell.

[edit] Profile

A troll is characterized by his stats:

  • attack, which determines if the troll effectively hits his opponent
  • damage
  • dodge
  • sight
  • hit point, if it reaches zero, the troll respawns at the surface or at his respawn point
  • magic mastery, which determines if a spell is cast at full power
  • magic resistance, which determines if a spell is resisted (the target only suffer half the effect of the spell)
  • turn duration, which determines how often the troll can play. The shorter is duration is, the more frequent the troll can act. Equipment or magic can extend or shorten it.

Then, the troll can learn skills, depending of his level, or spells if he manage to get some. Getting a spell is very difficult because the scrolls containing them are very rare.

[edit] Skills ans spells

Skills can be learned by all trolls once they reach the level required. There are a lot of skills for fighting, but there are also other non-offensive skills that are often used to develop roleplay. Spells are very difficult to obtain because they are very rare. There are only three ways of getting one: by dropping it, by trading or using the skill « magic writing ».

[edit] Fight, monsters and experience

Monsters are the main preys of trolls. There are a lot of species of monsters, classified in six families: monsters, demons, humanoids, insects, undead and animals. Descriptions of monsters are collected by guilds to constitute bestiaries, such as the Encyclopedia Trollcarta and the bestiary of the « Clan du Centre du Monde ». Four legendary monsters stalk in the Hall, they are very powerful and escorted by their guard. They are the Balrog, the Lich, the Beholder and the Hydra. During a fight, a troll can use spells, skill or even some object like potions or scrolls to heal himself or inflict damage to his opponent. By killing a monster, a troll earns experience, increase his characteristics, learn skills and can gain levels. Each time a troll gain a level, he earn a fly which provide him some bonus. At his death, a monsters drops one or several treasure, a component (part of the monster, that can be used for skills or enchantment) and gold.

[edit] Guilds, dens and villages

When trolls wants to play together, they can create a guild. Some guilds become very powerful and are very important in the structure of the Hall, either because they represent churches (the Fire, the Cold, the Eating and the Fertility ) or because they take part in the history of the Hall. Most of important guilds own dens, which can provide services such as healing, respawn points, equipment sale and TGV (a network of teleport). When several dens gather in the same place, a village is created. The bigger the village is, the more NPCs it attracts. These NPCs provides a lot of services, including repairing equipment, enchanting weapons, adjusting armors, selling and training gowap (an animal which can carry treasure for his owner), cursing other trolls and training skills.

[edit] Events and animations

Mountyhall is a game in constant evolution. The animation team often organize events and quests for the players. For example, the Plague appears and trolls had to find solutions to eradicate the disease. Every year, there is also a turkey hunt for Christmas, during which trolls have to kill as much turkey as they can. The bests are rewarded by magical items. Quests are a way of developing roleplay and integrating new features in the games.

[edit] Players' contributions

Some players developed a lot of programs to help them in the game. Maps take a census of dens, villages and others places used for quests. Fight simulators show the chance of winning a battle and bestiaries display the characteristics of a monster. The SSGG allows trolls in the same guild to compare their profile, to watch over their team-mates' hit points. A patch called Mountyzilla has even been created for Mozilla users. Some websites were created to provide service such as assassination of a troll on the most wanted trolls, trading components on Compoland, bidding onTrollBay. Experienced trolls also write guides for young players, as the guide for skrim
