Mount Pleasant is a city in Titus County, Texas, in the United States. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 13,935. It is the county seat of Titus CountyGR6, and is situated in Northeast Texas.

Mount Pleasant is located at 33°9′28″N, 94°58′12″W (33.157891, -94.970084)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 33.0 km² (12.7 mi²). 32.5 km² (12.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.5 km² (0.2 mi²) of it (1.57%) is water.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 13,935 people, 4,558 households, and 3,208 families residing in the city. The population density was 429.4/km² (1,112.0/mi²). There were 5,029 housing units at an average density of 155.0/km² (401.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 56.70% White, 16.00% African American, 0.55% Native American, 0.84% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 23.57% from other races, and 2.33% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 40.65% of the population.

There were 4,558 households out of which 39.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.9% were married couples living together, 14.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.6% were non-families. 26.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.93 and the average family size was 3.55.

In the city the population was spread out with 31.2% under the age of 18, 10.9% from 18 to 24, 28.1% from 25 to 44, 16.2% from 45 to 64, and 13.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 30 years. For every 100 females there were 94.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.6 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $28,805, and the median income for a family was $32,331. Males had a median income of $22,629 versus $17,080 for females. The per capita income for the city was $14,190. About 20.3% of families and 22.8% of the population were below the poverty line, including 30.7% of those under age 18 and 16.1% of those age 65 or over.
