Mount Claremont, Western Australia

Mount Claremont is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the Town of Cambridge and the City of Nedlands. Its postcode is 6010, and it consists mostly of residential estates which were built in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It was known as Graylands until 1988, but was renamed due to association with the Graylands mental hospital.

Mount Claremont contains the Challenge Stadium and the Western Australian Institute of Sport, as well as John XXIII College, Wollaston Theological College and lands owned by the University of Western Australia. It is served by various buses, and the southeast of the suburb is on the railway line between Karrakatta and Loch Street.

Mount Claremont consists of Four different sectors -

"Zamia Gardens" - this is the newest and most prestigious, estate of Mount Claremont, and is still in the process of completion of homes.

"St Johns Wood" - this newer estate is arguably the pinnacle of Mount Claremont with many beautiful new residences on good sized land and many gaining views to the city. The older parts of St Johns Wood border John XXII College and Graylands Hospital.

"St Peters Square" - a higher density development similar to Subiaco Centro has luxurious townhouses situated around a central park.

Old Mount Claremont - This leafy section was the original development with most homes being built in the 1940-1950's, some properties border national park or cottesloe golf course. Many opulent residences being built to maximise the larger land and prestige.
