Mou Ying Hung

Mou Ying Hung (Chinese: 慕應雄; pinyin: Mù Yīng Xíong) is one of the characters in the Fung Wan comic series.
Mou Ying Hung was the only son of General Mou who became the foster brother of Nameless when his father adopted the latter. He and Nameless share the same age but he was actually slightly older by a few days. Mou Ying Hung had been destined to be a great swordsman before he was even born. Sword energy emitted from his mother's womb was so strong that it was picked up by Sword Saint who was at that time in the far west of China.
Mou Ying Hung married his cousin but had no children.
[edit] Personality
Unlike the pessimistic Nameless, Mou Ying Hung had a cheerful nature and self-confidence.
He treasured brotherhood very much. When Nameless lost his fighting abilities after the duel with Sword Saint, Mou Ying Hung gave up swordsplay to care for his foster brother.
Despite having his heart in the right place, Mou Ying Hung can be quite ruthless in his actions. For example he was willing to do what it takes to rebuilt Nameless's confidence and fighting spirit, even though it meant he had to betray China and cause his brother to sever their brotherhood.
Later in his life, he provoked Nameless into agreeing for an ultimate duel. To achieve this, Mou Ying Hung deceived Nameless into believing that he killed his brother's obedient servant, Ghostly Tiger and thus stirred up Nameless's anger.
[edit] Martial Skills
"You gotta be cruel to be kind".
This statement forms the core principle of Mou Ying Hung's sword stance - Mou Tin Juet Kim (無天絕劍) [loosely translated as the Heavenless Hard-hearted Sword]. While the name suggests an extremely hard-hearted sword stance, it is quite ironic that a swordsman needs to have intense empathy to be able to appreciate and use the stance effectively.
Mou Ying Hung's sword stance is not inferior compared to Nameless's Mok Ming sword stance. For many years, these two sword stances were never used against each other. This was because Mou Ying Hung intentionally lost a duel to Nameless before shying away from the martial world for most of his life.
Mou Ying Hung re-emerged in the martial world recently, where he forced Wind and Cloud to fight him. This fight gave an early indication of how good Mou Ying Hung's martial skills were. The attack combination of the legendary Wind-Cloud could only manage a stalemate against the veteran swordsman.
Subsequently Mou Ying Hung arranged the ultimate brotherly duel with Nameless. To set a level playing field against the one-armed Nameless, he cut off his right arm and eventually convinced Nameless that it should be a duel between two best swordsmen rather than between good brothers. The duel ended with Mou Ying Hung narrowly defeated Nameless. He died not long after the duel.
Besides having superb sword skills, Mou Ying Hung showed that he is a master blacksmith as well. In the recent years, he re-forged a new Hero Sword for Nameless.
[edit] Disciples
Mou Ying Hung's great self-confidence made him better swordsman than Nameless in many ways. However, he was not as fortunate as his brother in terms of having desirable disciples. While Nameless has the obedient Cloud under his tutelage, Mou Ying Hung's 3 disciples were:
- Kim Sun, whom Mou Ying Hung rescued from the sea after Kim Sun was badly injured by Dai Seik Tin. His efforts to rehabilitate Kim Sun did not work out.
- Shen Wang (聖王), an arrogant and highly ambitious aristocrat from Korea, whose ancestor relinquished the chance to rule China and created a jinx to prevent his descendants from doing so.
- Yi Fung, the son of Nip Fung. Mou Ying Hung is so impressed by the last technique (inperfect at that time) of the 10 Armageddon of The Evil King sword stance used by Yi Fung against Bou Keng Wan in their battle at Korea, he decided to help Yi Fung to perfect it. He then taught Yi Fung 15 of the 16 techniques in his Mou Tin Juet Kim sword stance for that reason. After teaching Yi Fung those techniques, Mou Ying Hung then tells Yi Fung to go to the village of which its inhabitants has been killed by Mou Ying Hung to obtain the 16th and the last technique in the Mou Tin Juet Kim. That 16th technique are said to be able to help Yi Fung to master the last technique in the 10 Armageddon of The Evil King. Yi Fung goes to the village and from the clues left by Mou Ying Hung, he managed to master the 16th technique. Ultimately, even by mastering Mou Tin Juet Kim, Yi Fung does not manage to perfect the 10 Armageddon of The Evil King stance, although his understading of that stance increases considerably. Unfortunately, Yi Fung is too obsessed with his 10 Armageddon of The Evil Sword stance and never used the Mou Tin Juet Kim sword stance in battle.
