Motorized scooter
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A motorized scooter is vehicle consisting of a footboard mounted on two wheels and a long steering handle, propelled by a small motor, such as a Segway, GoPed or BladeZ.
A motorized kick scooter may have an electric or a gas motor. Electric motors are good for zero pollutant emissions and low noise. Electric scooters can travel from 10 to 25 miles per hour depending on the model, and go 10 to 15 miles on a charge (depending on the rider's weight and riding style). These numbers can vary depending on the weight load. Gas motors provide more power, travel farther, and attain higher speeds than electric scooters. Gas scooters provide many more options for upgrades and engine modifications.
In many areas in the United States motorized scooters are not street legal, as they cannot be tagged, titled, insured, and do not meet simple federal requirements for lights, brakes, and other safety equipment. Before you ride, you will need to check with your regional and local vehicle code. A particular locality may also have further ordinances that limit the use of motorized scooters. The top speed of the average motorized scooters is around 20 miles per hour. Due to their small wheels motorized scooters are not typically safe for street use as even the smallest bumps can cause an accident.
