Mother of the Nation

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The epithet Mother of the Nation, unlike its male equivalent "Father of the Nation", has seen only occasional use, primarily due to the male-dominated history of nation-building. However, there are a few examples, mostly from the past century or so. Sometimes it is used less metaphorical for women who (for some reason) represent motherhood for many citizens of the nation.
