[edit] Places of interest

[edit] Mossdeep City Gym

This gym is headed by Tate & Liza, a double battle. They use a Lunatone and a Solrock. In Pokémon Emerald, Tate & Liza still use Lunatone and Solrock, however, they also have a Xatu and Claydol. The layout is notably different between Ruby/Sapphire and Emerald as well, because the Ruby/Sapphire layout is a huge arrow puzzle, while the Emerald layout involves rotations and teleporters.

[edit] Steven's House

Steven's house is filled with cases containing stones. When you visit his house after defeating Tate & Liza, you can get HM08, Dive, from Steven. After beating the Elite 4, you can get a Poké Ball containing a Beldum, which is a gift from Steven.

[edit] Mossdeep City Space Center

Mossdeep City Space Center

The Mossdeep City Space Center, is where, if the player talks to one of the scientists, the scientist will announce "This is the next successful liftoff." In Pokémon Emerald, after beating Tate & Liza at the gym, Team Magma will take over the Center--- reminiscent of the way Team Aqua takes over the Weather Institute earlier in the game--- and just like that encounter, you must battle the Magma members to force them out. In the final battle in this area, you and Steven will team up against Maxie, Team Magma's leader, in a double battle to defeat him. This is also the only place in the RSE games where the player can get a Sun Stone.

[edit] Shoal Cave

The Shoal Cave is located north of Mossdeep City. Its most notable feature is having tides, which vary by the time of the day, and also affect how the player journeys Shoal Cave. It also contains and old man who makes Shell Bells when you bring him the necessary ingredients and a bulky man who gives you the Focus Band. Also, it's the only place in Emerald where Spheal and Snorunt (It is found only in the ice covered area of the Shoal Cave in low tide) may be caught.

[edit] In the anime

In the anime, Ash, May and Max arrive at Mossdeep City after trouble with Team Magma and Team Aqua. They hear about a space center, so they look at the map, and take a look at the space center. They see a whole bunch of excersie machines. May looks at the moon walk, which she wanted to use, but Ash actually used a spinning wheel and couln't handle it at all. When they look through a hole, they see the Gym Leaders battling each other. They went to see a space shuttle which Team Rocket then stole, they got it back eventually and started their battle, which Ash eventually won.

[edit] Demographics

Mossdeep City is very large city in size. But has a small population when compared to Lilycove and Rustboro, two cities with a size comparable to Mossdeep. The population is only 31, which is high because of those whom work in the Space Center.
