Moshav Mevo Modiim

Mevo Modi'im (Hebrew: מבוא מודיעים), is a moshav located northwest of the city of Modi'in in Israel, on Highway 443.

The moshav gained fame from its former rabbi, Shlomo Carlebach, who resided there in the later years of his life. Many Moshav residents came to the Moshav as a group from the United States, following the direction of Shlomo Carlebach.

A popular religious music group, The Moshav Band, is originally based on the moshav, as many of its members grew up there.

As it is known, "The Moshav" is a religious community with the main area at its centre. The plaza includes grassy areas (where Moshav Festivals are held), a synagogue (with beautiful murals), an event hall and a playground. Moshav residents range from Modern Orthodox Americans to Religous Zionist Isrealis and everything in between. The Moshav style has a hippy inspired influence, but also encompasses the full spectrum of Isreali culture.

The Moshav Mevo Modi'im has a kosher (Medhadrin) Italian Restaurant, Luciano’s. It is run by Shoshana GalOr. It offers a wide range of dairy Italian food.

Moshav residents built a new pavilion near the ruins on the moshav in memory of a young man who was killed in a terrorist attack. The young man was named for the famous Polish Rabbi Aish Kodesh, who perished in the Warsaw Ghetto during the Holocaust.

Moshav families are very welcoming, warm, and friendly and it is easy for a visitor to secure a place to stay for Shabbat by contacting Ohr Chadash, an organization run by Rabbi Avraham Trugman.
