[edit] This map is wrong and archaic
Whoever drew this map should give him(her)self a crash-course in the layout of the Kremlin, like taking a good look at the google maps image of it prior to setting out. Shall we begin:
- Lenin has been dismantled back in 1994
- Church of the twelve apostles is incorrectly labeled as the Virgin Robe.
- Dormition Cathedral is labeled as the Church of the twelve apostles
- Palace of Congresses has been the State Kremlin Palace for the last 15 years
- Likewise Presidium has been 14 Corpus of the Presidents administration
- And Council of Ministers has too moved out of the Kremlin 15 years ago and now the Senate building (correct name) is used as the Residency of the Russian President
- Great Kremlin Palace is not actually a square block, but is a complex of which the Grand Kremlin Palace is one part.
- Some of those parts should be separately labeled:eg. Terem, Faceted palace, it should also be linked up to the rest of the Kremlin structures.
- No Amusement Palace...No diamond treasury...no tsar cannon or bell...
- If you include the Red Square, then might as well add the Alexander Gardens, St.Basils, Historical Museum, GUM, and the Voskresenskiye gates...
Conclusion: Amateur, incorrect schematic that is also 15 years out of date. --Kuban Cossack 13:03, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
Corrections have been made. Remember to clear cache & hit refresh. Corrections:
- The Lenin Monument has been removed.
- Church of the twelve apostles fixed.
- Dormition Cathedral fixed.
- Palace of Congresses renamed.
- Presidium renamed.
- Council of Ministers renamed.
- Great Kremlin Palace divided into Grand Kremlin Palace and Terem Palace.
- I do not know where Faceted palace is.
- Tsar Cannon and Tsar Bell added, are the positions correct? I do not know where Amusement Palace & diamond treasury are.
- Red Square was only added to give the viewer a sense of direction.
I would very much like further help with the unresolved issues above. The maps which I have used are:
Please give info here on this talk page. You can also download my map, do a quick-and-dirty draw in MS paint or whatever, and send it to me via mail here: Send dna-webmaster an email. I will then make changes to the original map and upload it. My regards, Dennis Nilsson. --Dna-Dennis talk - contribs 06:35, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
- Not bad, better, much better, but still FAR from perfect.
Try these images for start:
- http://www.kreml.ru/en/main/kremlin/
- And of course this [1] as well as the Sat view [2].
If anything, then that should be the first resources to come to. Note how the State Kremlin palace is linked up [3] to other buildings. Now then
- The amusement/Poteshny palace is to the west of the State Kremlin Palace
- The Faceted/Granovitaya palace/chamber is north of the annuncipation cathedral
- The 14 Corpus is only the technical name. Just call them Senate and Presidential Administration.
- The Arsenal building should be directly parallel to the Kremlin wall.
- Speaking of the buildings' positions then do have a good look at the google map and make sure they are all to scale. (This includes the allignment of the Kremlin wall.
- My advice: do a printscreen of the google map (full screen it first) and then work from there, (change its colour gamma to resemble this schematic, add the Kremlin towers and walls...) and work from there
- Label the towers in the translation that wiki uses @Kremlin Towers. --Kuban Cossack 13:59, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
