[edit] EH sites

Hi & welcome,

I noticed your edit on the article on Stanton Drew stone circles which is local to me in the Chew Valley & I keep an eye on it. I've added the EH category to Farleigh Hungerford & Nunney Castle (which have my pictures on them which I suggested to "Images of England" but they wern't interested in digital pics). I was interested in your comments about standardisation of these sorts of articles - I have no expertise in history &/or architecture & would welcome your suggestions or edits, but as each site is quite different there are always going to be some variations. You might be interested in contributing to the article of English Heritage which the Wikipedia:Cleanup Taskforce are looking at & Talk:Images of England. It would be useful to add images of England refs to the stubs you are starting for EH properties if they have them. Do you know if EH has a easily accessible data sheet (or similar) for each site as the info on their web site is quite limited & varied. An example would be the data sheets from English Nature for Site of Special Scientific Interest - see the work a few of us have been doing on List of Sites of Special Scientific Interest in Avon & List of Sites of Special Scientific Interest in Somerset. I will not be contactable for the next week, but if you leave suggestions or comments on my talk page I'll look at them when I'm back. Once again welcome to Wikipedia. — Rod talk 20:41, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] {{catneeded}}

Hi...I've noticed that a number of articles you've created recently have had both the {{catneeded}} template and the category Category:English Heritage on them. Please note that the catneeded template is only to be applied to articles that have no categories on them at all; it's not to be used to ask for additional categories if the article is already in at least one. Doing so simply creates unnecessary work for the people who monitor Category:Category needed. Thanks. Bearcat 03:35, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Berry Pomeroy

Hey, I work at Berry Pomeroy Castle in Devon, and I've been adding all the information I know to the stub. Thanks for your work. --Arjayoh 17:23, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] English Heritage

Thanks for your message about using categories & sorry it's taken a while to get back to you. I'm not an expert but feel it is useful to group articles with others by the useof categories where possible. The lowest level of "granularity" is best eg Buildings and structures in Somerset is better than Buildings and structures in England & you shouldn't use both. Your suggestions of

  • English Heritage
  • Ruins
  • Buildings and structures in insert county here
  • History of insert county here
  • Visitor attractions in insert county here

seem suitable although some counties may not (yet) have all these categories.

BTW please remember to sign your message on talk pages with ~~~~. — Rod talk 13:56, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Temple Church, Bristol

I have a bit of a go at an article for Temple Church, Bristol, which you started, including now adding some pics. Could you have a look and I check the information and see if this is the sort of thing you were suggesting for EH sites? — Rod talk 14:49, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tuboat Canal

Ah miss spelling. Should be "tub boat canal". Examples would be the bude canal and the Rolle Canal.Geni 21:57, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Moretoncorbet2.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Moretoncorbet2.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 01:05, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Categories on pictures

Re: User talk:Error#Categories on Pictures.: I like pictures appearing in Categories. Obviously I like it in Wikimedia Commons but also in the Wikipedia pages. I think it adds value to categories and helps finding pictures. It may seem odd because many people don't put categories in pictures they upload, even when a special category like Category:Images applies. I will leave it categorized. --Error 20:46, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
