|
|
Welcome to the inaugural issue of the Military history WikiProject's newsletter! We hope that this new format will help members—especially those who may be unable to keep up with some of the rapid developments that tend to occur—find new groups and programs within the project that they may wish to participate in. Please consider this inital issue to be a prototype; as always, any comments and suggestions are quite welcome, and will help us improve the newsletter in the coming months. [edit] Your RFA
As you can probably see, it is quite difficult to become an administrator on the English Wikipedia. Don't give up though, you'll probably pass once you get about 1000 mainspace contribs and a decent amount of talk and project edits. The ikiroid (talk·desk·Advise me) 14:33, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
- I was expecting it to be difficult, especially since my name hasn't been that recognized here yet...but I will mainly concentrate on the enwiki for now on, so the edits will definitively grow ;) —MoRsΞ 14:39, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
- Get involved in vandalism defense and reporting. Also, familiarise yourself with deletion processes (AfD, MfD, etc.) You'll do fine, I'm sure :-) Cheers, The ikiroid (talk·desk·Advise me) 18:14, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Swedish architecture
Hi there, I noticed your RfA - good luck. I've recently completed a translation from German of Swedish architecture. I'm concerned in 2 ways about the article. Firstly, I'm hoping the german article isn't a translation from swedish - if it is then there's a serious concern about factual accuracy (things getting lost in translation so to speak), Secondly the German article wasn't referenced at all. I need to add references to it.
Perhaps you'd be so kind as to read it and let me know if there's any obvious blunders and could you point me to any sources of the information that I might be able to reference (preferably in english, but swedish will do if there's no english alternative). many thanks. --Mcginnly | Natter 01:47, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for your kind words and support! First, you don't have to worry about the Swedish article, it is sadly only a one-line stub. I was reading your fine article side by side with the German one, and the only thing that I changed was the link from the Royal Theatre to Royal Dramatic Theatre. As far as sources, I found 3 nice ones in English, especially the two last ones should come in handy:

- Now I just need to translate your architecture article into Swedish! :) It is a shame and a sin that there was nothing more written about the subject in the svwiki. Mo[[User_talk:MoRsE|Rs[[Special:Contributions/MoRsE|E]]]] 11:45, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RfA questions
Just 2 questions for your RfA:
- Do you have E-mail activated?
- And how much do you vandalfight out of 0 to 4, 0 being never & 4 being most of the time?
-- Lego@lost Rocks Collide! | 00:48, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for pointing the email issue out, I believed I had activated it, but it turned out that it wasn't. Now I have activated it so others can get in touch with me that way. I check that email account on a daily basis. I am also in the IRC-channels #wikipedia-en and #wikipedia-sv as often as I can. 2) I usually scan the new entries to try finding non-articles, vandalism or errors (e.g. naming problems) of my time here, I would say 2 goes to creating new articles, 1 to structuring the older articles and 1 to prevent vandalism. [edit] Your RfA
I am sorry to inform you that your Request for Adminship (RfA) has failed to reach sufficient consensus for promotion, and has now been delisted and archived. Please do not look upon this outcome as a discouragement, but rather as an opportunity to improve. Try to address the concerns raised during your RfA and, in a few months' time, resubmit your request. Thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia in this capacity! Redux 22:58, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
- This actually bothers me, man. I'm sorry about this, you do deserve the tools, though. Yanksox 23:00, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you Yanksox. I was expecting this outcome and I will try again in a couple of months time, when hopefully I have become a little more noticed. Right now I am on a trip to Finland, so I don't have access to a computer that often, but as soon as I am back I will start editing at full speed again. MoRsE 07:58, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Predicate Logic
Hi MoRsE! Thanks for contacting me. The formula you gave me was: where Cx stands for "The Capital of Germany".
In my opinion, the formula says that Germany has exactly one capital.
means that if there is a y such that Cy, then y is equals to a fixed value. Thus, either there is no value for Cy or there is only one value which is x. On the other hand, the first part says "there is an x such that Cx".
I hope that this is clear enough. If it is not, contact me again. Bye! Julian Mendez 15:56, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Jaakko Sivonen
Hej Morse. I saw that you reported this user on WP:AIV. I was about to block him, but I found a better option to give him a npa4im warning, as he hadn't been warned and was also not active for a couple of hours. I would like to ask you to please monitor him and report to me if you see any further disruption/personal attacks from him. Thank you. Regards--Húsönd 03:02, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, I will try to keep an eye out for his actions. --MoRsE 06:33, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Page move
Hi, MoRsE. Please see my comment at Talk:Finland Swedes. It looks like we need to get this name issue sorted out, but to avoid the problems associated with "cut-and-paste" moves, I think we should take care of it via Wikipedia:Requested moves. I'll see you there, I guess. -GTBacchus(talk) 04:01, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
