[edit] A Skilled and Visionary Software Developer
Morten Brørup is an extremely versatile software developer, with the ability to design projects at a high abstraction level and optimize the C/C++ details.
When he got his university degree, he started working as a software engineer for Thrane & Thrane, where he primarily developed satellite protocols and traveled around the world, teaching engineers from companies like British Telecom, Station 12, TPSA etc. how to program satellite land earth stations.
His most notable contribution to the satellite industry, was his role in the specification and development of the e-mail capability for the Inmarsat-C satellite system, which was rooted in his early personal adoption of the Internet.
[edit] The Serial Entrepreneur
Morten Brørup is a typical serial entrepreneur. During high school he founded his first company, Total Import I/S (together with Casper Steinhauer).
A few years after getting his university degree and working as a software engineer and a project manager, he founded Digital Audio Innovation I/S (together with Søren A. Møller) to develop a hard drive-based MP3 player and an Internet radio device. This was many years before the iPod, and not only was it too early for the market, but the project also stranded because of other (non-technical) problems. Morten still has the fully functional prototype, and sometimes takes it out, just to show how far a small team of expert developers can go.
Morten is a winner of Venture Cup Copenhagen 2004-2005 Phase 1 (teaming up with his cousin, Anders Brørup), and was nominated for the Danish Finals.
Some of Morten's previous or current creations are:
- VideoStabilizer (created together with Søren A. Møller) - An electronic device for removing MacroVision copy protection from video tapes
- ClipSys - A news clip database management system for large organizations and corporations
- SmartShare - A bandwidth distributor (with built-in router) that ensures efficient sharing of an Internet connection
[edit] Outside Denmark
Morten Brørup lives in Denmark and prefers his family name spelled Broerup when the Danish letter ø in Brørup is not available.
