[edit] History

Moroyama, as it is now, was established in 1955 when the old Moroyama Town and Kawakado Village consolidated, taking a large step toward the area's rapid growth from a farm village to an urban town. Road paving and housing developments in the early 1960's brought urbanization, population growth and change to areas previously devoted to mulberry fields. This new urban environment led to changes in the industrial structure including decreases in the agricultural population and an increase in the manufacturing and service industries. Moroyama became a commuter town.
With the rapid increase of the population, advances in the quality of local administration are called for. For a better envionment and more safety, cooperation in waste disposal, fire fighting and sewage treatment is being carried out with neighboring municipalities. A number of local facilities were improved to support the residents including Town Hall, the Health Center, Welfare Hall, parks, library and community centers. Home nursing care services and courses for helpers have led to improvements in our welfare system for the elderly.
The town is executing a comprehensive plan designed to guarantee safety, security and stability in the residents' lives in these days of rapid change. Improvements in waste disposal and sewage treatment systems are progressing to provide a more comfortable living environment. The Day Service Center and Home Nursing Care Support Center help the elderly pursue their lives at home. We are taking full advantage of natural environment for tourism with the Yuzu-no-sato Auto Campsite and hiking courses.

[edit] Industry

Moroyama aims for a fine balance among its agriculture, commerce, industry and tourism sectors in order to support the rich and stable lives of residents. The healthy development of local industries leads to a strong economic foundation of the town, providing not only employment and income-earning opportunities for the residents, but also serving as a pillar of a dynamic community where every resident can lead a rewarding life.
