Morning Journal

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Morning Journal is a newspaper based in Lorain, Ohio. Originally the Lorain Journal, it was an afternoon paper which was historically more popular in an industrial town like Lorain, but switched to morning publication in the 1980s.

It is the primary paper in the city of Lorain, but also serves the wider area of Lorain Erie, and Huron counties, and the western Cleveland suburbs. It calls this area "the Golden Crescent".

Its editorial policies have historically been liberal-leaning and decidedly pro-labor, consistent with its readership base in a steel mill and automotive area. Well-liked by some, it is derided by those who dislike its policies as "the Morning Urinal".

In recent years the paper has betrayed many of its liberal beginnings and has taken a decidedly conservative approach, offering it's full editorial support to Republican Mayor and congressional cadidate Craig Foltin.

In several instances the paper has been known to get information early from the Mayor and his administration in exchange for positive editorial reviews on important legislation.
