Morning Call is an American TV business program on CNBC with Liz Claman. Previous programs shown in the same time slot were The Money Wheel with Ted David and Martha MacCallum and Market Watch with Liz Claman and Tyler Mathisen and Ted David and Consuelo Mack.

Morning Call, which premiered as Midday Call on Feb. 4th, 2002 (Video:[1]), offers a clear focus on real-time market coverage at the heart of the trading day, including fast-paced market news, such as real estate, among others. In October 2005, the program's blog site, [TheMorningBlog.com], was launched.

[edit] Morning Call

On February 3, 2006, Ted David, who had co-anchored Morning Call with Liz Claman since 2003, left the program while being promoted to senior anchor at CNBC Business Radio. Since February 6, 2006, Claman is now joined in the 10-11am hour by Mark Haines (who reports from the New York Stock Exchange), and in the 11am-noon hour by Michelle Caruso-Cabrera (prior to July 2006, when Caruso-Cabrera started co-anchoring the second half of the show, Claman was joined by Carl Quintanilla and other various anchors). But occasionally, Claman anchors solo during the second hour. Regular contributors include Bob Pisani (NYSE), Melissa Francis, Sharon Epperson (NYMEX), Bob O'Brien, Rick Santelli (Chicago), Steve Liesman, David Faber, and Bianna Golodryga.

Also, on Wednesdays, at 10:30am ET (halfway through the first hour of the program), CNBC's energy reporter (and occasional substitute co-anchor) Melissa Francis reports from the NYMEX with the weekly crude oil, gasoline, and distillate inventories report, which is released by the Energy Information Administration. And on Thursdays, also at 10:30am ET, the EIA releases the natural gas inventories report. And also on Thursdays, during the second hour of Morning Call, chief commentator Bill Seidman makes a guest appearance and answers viewers' Email questions.

And finally, on Fridays, during the second hour of Morning Call, Christine Benz, of Morningstar, presents her "mutual fund pick and pan of the week."

[edit] Morning Call On Location

Occasionally, Morning Call is broadcast live on location, such as the NYMEX. One of these examples came on October 12, 2006, when Claman anchored the entire 2-hour program from the NYMEX (along with Haines at the NYSE for the first hour and Caruso-Cabrera at CNBC Global Headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, NJ for the second hour). She was joined on location at the NYMEX by Sharon Epperson on the day the weekly crude oil, gasoline, distillate, and natural gas inventories report were released by the EIA.

On October 31, 2006, Morning Call originated from the NYSE, as Claman, Haines, and Caruso-Cabrera all anchored the entire two-hour broadcast.

[edit] Asia Market Watch

Main article: Asia Market Watch

Internationally, the CNBC Asia program Asia Market Watch (anchored by Amanda Drury) is equivalent to Morning Call, and used the same theme music, which was originally adopted by Morning Call until the latter's December 19, 2005 revamp. Since October 30, 2006 (when the Asia net revamped its graphics package), the program started using the theme music that was previously adopted by Street Signs. In addition, the program debuted its new logo.

Regular contributors include Arnold Gay, Sri Jegarajah, Saijal Patel, Betty Liu (Hong Kong), Kaori Enjoji (Tokyo), Keith Liu (who presents the tech reports; no relation to Betty Liu), and Cheng Lei (who presents the "China Business Briefing" segment). As of July 2006, Lei, who was based in CNBC Asia's Beijing bureau, is now based in that network's main studios in Singapore.

[edit] Morning Exchange/Worldwide Exchange

There was also the CNBC Europe program Morning Exchange, but was cancelled on December 16, 2005 and was replaced by Worldwide Exchange , which premiered on December 19, 2005.
