More FM is a New Zealand radio network playing adult contemporary music. It is operated by RadioWorks a subsidiary of Canwest Mediaworks NZ.

More FM broadcasts in 21 centres throughout New Zealand with local announcers and a nationwide night show.

Originally there was only 5 More FM Stations those being Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch & Dunedin all presented locally. In November 2004 Canwest Mediaworks NZ rebranded most of their local stations to the More FM brand.

[edit] Wellington

Wellington is the birthplace of More FM. It started broadcasting from there on May 6, 1991 as 99 100 More FM.

Recently the 98.9FM frequency was relocated to 94.7FM (formerly Channel Z) and 94.7FM now broadcasts More FM, as well as the 100FM frequency. The more powerful 100FM frequency transmits across to Blenheim in the South Island and has been received in Masterton.

Once the Wellington station was established, the brand spread across the country to Christchurch and then Auckland, although the programmed was not networked. This would happen several years later.

91.6 More FM Northland is a radio station serving the Whangarei urban area and the entire Northland region. Before the re-branding to More FM in 2005 this station was known famously as KCC FM.

  • Days with Melanie Wise - 10am to 3pm
  • Drive with Chris Lloyd - 3pm to 7pm

More FM Northland also provide a weekday breakfast for Kerikeri listeners on 92FM with Pete Gentil from the Kerikeri offices.

91.8 More FM Auckland is a radio station serving the Auckland urban area. MoreFM Auckland came to be in August 1993.

Programming includes:

  • 6 - 10am "KaC" The Kim And Corbett Breakfast Show (with Hilary Barry and producer Tim).

This show had its origins on 91FM. Kim Adamson originally presented the morning show with Danny Watson, then Mark Staufer. More FM was launched, and Kim was teamed with comedian Jeremy Corbett and the KaC branding. Through much of its life KaC was produced by comedian Paul Ego, Paul left for greener pastures mid 2006 to be replaced by Tim. Where Paul Ego regularly interacted with KaC on air, Tim is more behind the scenes in a traditional role of producer. The original newsreader was Deb Stanaway. Deb was moved to the 10 - 7pm news slot and was replaced by popular personality Hilary Barry who now co-anchors 3 News. Deb left in 2006 and was replaced by Susan Edmunds. Regular parts of the show include The Battle of the Sexes and Showbiz News

Recently arrived at More FM Auckland to replace Robert Scott who presented the midday show until mid 2006. Robert is now one half of the '2 Robbies' (with Robert Rakete) on the recently launched The Breeze.

  • 3 - 7pm Lance Dunne.

The remaining half of The Afternoon Breakfast, a concept which teamed the experienced Brent Harbour with newcomer Lance Dunne. Brent departed for More FM Waikato in 2004 leaving Lance to present the show solo. Lance also works with the ARU and can be found at Eden Park during Super 14 and NPC matches.

More FM Auckland regularly perform outdoor broadcasts from their mobile studio OB1 (ObiWan), a converted motorhome. This concept was created in 2003 and Brent Harbour jointly won an advertising award for the promotion of OB1.

The More FM Network programme (7pm to 6am) that is fed to all other More FM stations in New Zealand is generated from More FM's Auckland studios.

93.4 More FM Tauranga is a local radio station based in central Tauranga, broadcasting across the Bay of Plenty region. Before the re-branding to More FM, this local station was known as 93.4 Coastline FM.

92.7 More FM Hawke's Bay is a radio station based in Hastings, New Zealand, broadcasting across Hawke's Bay... A region world famous for its wine and sunshine. The More FM brand replaced the previous local station 'Hot 93FM'.

95.1 More FM Horowhenua is a local radio station based in central Levin broadcasting to the Horowhenua distric. Before the More FM re-branding in 2005 this station was named Horowhenua's 95FM.

90.2 More FM Kapiti is a local radio station based in central Paraparaumu broadcasting to the Kapiti Coast region. Before the More FM re-branding in 2005 this station was named 2XX FM. 2XX once broadcast on 1377AM as well as 90.2FM. In 2004, The Radio Network purchased the frequency for its Radio Sport station.

89.3 More FM Wairarapa is a local radio station based in Masterton broadcasting to the Wairarapa province. Before the More FM re-branding in 2005 this station was named Hitz 89FM. More FM Wairarapa also broadcast on 99.8FM in Martinborough to fully cover the Wairarapa.

93.0 More FM Nelson is a local radio station broadcasting from the heart of Nelson city to the Tasman District; including Motueka & Takaka on 92FM and Murchison on 94FM. Before the More FM re-branding in 2005 this station was known famously as Fifeshire FM. To this day the station broadcasts from the historic Fifeshire House.

92.1 More FM Canterbury is a radio station broadcasting across Canterbury. The station was one of the original More FM stations. The station broadcasts on 92.1 and 95.3 in Lyttelton.

The station was started as an adult contemporary (AC) format station and continues with that format to this day. More FM Christchurch was operated by the Frader Group Limited. The first hosts of the morning show were James Daniels and Ken Ellis who had moved from 91 ZM. The show was also broadcast on Christchurch local TV station, Cry TV in its early shows.

More FM became one of the major radio stations in Canterbury when on 1 April 1997 the successful breakfast hosts Simon Barnett and Phil Gifford moved from The Radio Network's 91 ZM to More FM.

97.4 More FM is a radio station broadcasting across Dunedin. More FM originally broadcasted in Dunedin on 98.2 or 98 More FM, locally presented except for Si & Gary for breakfast which was from Christchurch but the show was presented to include Dunedin. In 2004 as part of the More FM brand roll out across the country, it moved to the 97.4FM frequency, and replaced Dunedin radio station 4XO, creating 97.4 More FM Dunedin. An integration of presenters of 4XO & 98 More FM were can be heard on the station. The 98.2FM frequency is now Dunedin's Easy Listening Breeze 98.2FM - another of RadioWorks' local stations.

Central Otago's More FM, which is based from Alexandra replaced Radio Central in 2004. The station broadcasts on 90.3, 94.3 and 99.4 FM and covers Alexandra, Cromwell, Wanaka and other parts of Central Otago.

Queenstown's More FM broadcasts on 99.2 FM and was originally branded as Resort Radio until 2004 when Canwest Radioworks rebranded their heritage stations as More FM.

89.2 More FM broadcasts in the Southland region from the BCL site at Hedgehope. The station was originally started by a group of local investors as Foveaux Radio (4XF, 1224 kHz) in 1982, the station was bought by Radio Otago in the late 1980's and started broadcasting as "89.2 Foveaux FM" in the early 1990's.

Foveaux FM became Southland's 89.2 More FM in early 2005 as part of Canwest RadioWorks' move to rebrand all 'heritige' stations as More FM. It still broadcasts the same programme on 1224 kHz.

Outside the 6am to 7pm local timeslot all broadcasts are fed via satellite from the More FM Auckland studio. This feed has localised inserts to allow for local adversiting and station identification.
