Monument Avenue 10K

The Monument Avenue 10K, also known as the Ukrops Monument Avenue 10K, is an annual 10,000 meter road running event, sanctioned by USA Track and Field. The race is run on historic Monument Avenue in Richmond, Virginia. Begun in 1999, the race has grown to be the fourth largest 10k in the country and the 22nd-largest race of any distance. [1]. In 2006, race registration broke the previous year's record of 17,000 and was capped at 20,000 people.
The race is mainly sponsored by Ukrops but is promotions is officially run by the non-profit group Richmond Sports Backers, which promotes other sporting events in the area.
In 2006, Barbara and Jenna Bush ran the race under aliases [2] .
